"You know, J'darin, eventually we've got to get up..." Traelyn murmured against his neck, even as one leg slid over his. The hidework in her office was a scary sight, but it was hard to feel guilty when she was curled up so comfortably against her Weyrleader.
J'darin blinked sleepily at Traelyn, cuddling her against his side with the ease of early morning laziness. He kissed the top of her head, amazed at how many nights they _had_ managed to spend together. He was growing closer to her by the day, though he imagined there would still be loud, screaming fights. It was just the way it was with he and women he cared for, except Dyaera. She was such a gentle joy for him, but oh he did enjoy a good argument too.. and the making up.
"I really do not _want_ to get up, Traelyn. You're so soft and cuddly.."
He teased her with a laugh. "Lazing in bed might be considered irresponsible by some Weyrleaders." He chuckled dryly, then leaned down to kiss her. "Mmm.. good morning, lovely Weyrwoman."
"Mornin'," she whispered once his lips had lifted from hers. It really did amaze her how often they'd been together during the nights -
especially after a month of hardly being in one another's company during the _day_.
The Harper Hall's festivities hadn't only done the harpers some good, it seemed.
Smiling, she stretched languidly, reaching for Nyith's mind. The queen was still deeply asleep, curled up against her bronze mate. "They're laying just like this, you know..."
J'darin touched his own lifemate and a smile curved his lips, echoing her own. "And they're just as unwilling to move." Hasaarth was awake and watchful, protectively covering his gold mate, despite her larger size.
He peered at her for a moment. "How is it that just sharing our beds solved our problems, hmm?"
Trae glanced up at him before resting her head back onto his shoulder. She was silent for a long moment, thinking about his question. "Mmm... I was under the impression we'd put everything behind us? And started again on a clean slate?" It was an answer she'd rarely given to a man. In fact, she didn't think she'd given it to anyone before now. It was in Traelyn's nature to want to try and talk things out with the person she had fought with, but... Well, things were different with J'darin. He was unlike any bronzerider she'd ever met.
The look in her eyes turned thoughtful as she studied the sheets wrapped around them. Was that another part of the reason of why she had treated him...differently, than, say, O'dan? Because he wasn't like the others?
J'darin looked at her for several heartbeats, then traced her cheek with his finger. He followed that with a little kiss to the same line his finger had traced. "I'm fine with putting everything behind us, Traelyn. I'm sure we'll find something else to fight about soon enough.." He grinned that charming grin, and then shifted suddenly so he was laying on top of her. "In the meantime... "
She wrapped her arms around his back as his lips traced her skin, and was about to tilt his face to hers when suddenly, she felt her queen rouse. As Trae instinctively reached for her mind, she was suddenly hit with her dragon's emotions.
Emotions that she recognized.
A smile began to curve her mouth.
}:Trae? Trae, it's time,:{ Nyith called, her tone nearly plaintive.
A slight gasp of excitement left her lips. Her hands clutched at J'darin's shoulders. "J'darin!"
"What?" He said, startled, leaning back and staring at her in alarm. He touched Hasaarth's mind and found his bronze glowing with pride. "That means we have to get up doesn't it?" And he rolled over and up to his feet, helping her. "I think?"
Traelyn was grinning as she, with his help, scrambled out of bed, grabbing anything that her fingers touched to throw on. Out on the ledge, she could hear Nyith's claws on stone as she lept off. Pulling the tunic over her head, and not even bothering with the laces, she impatiently stamped into her boots. Luckily she and J'darin didn't have to go very far to get to the Hatching Grounds - her weyr connected right to them!
"Ready?" she asked him as he pulled on his shirt, her voice almost breathless in anticipation.
As he finished dressing, not quite as haphazardly as his weyrwoman, J'darin nodded to her and then swallowed. "Hasaarth had never been a father before.. that bronze is acting almost as silly as a wherry he's so sharding proud!" The same pride was leaking from his rider, and it was that which made him smile. "What I hope is the first of many mornings like this, Traelyn.." then he took her hand and let her lead him out onto the Sands.

"Thirty-six..." Trae smiled as she extended a hand to her proud, exhausted queen. Nyith lowered her great head, gently brushing her rider's hand with the tip of her nose, her opalescent eyes whirling slowly. Then she blinked.
}:I am very proud.:{ Nyith raised her head then as she looked around the Sands, then she arched her neck upwards to look at her bronze mate. }:And Hasaarth is very proud.:{ "I know... And I'm so proud of you, dear heart." Hearing J'darin approach, she turned her head to smile at him.
"36!" The Weyrleader was fairly beaming with pride. He scooped Traelyn up in a tight hug, spinning her around for a moment. "She has outdone herself." Turning to the exhausted queen and the very proud bronze hovering nearby, he said "I'm so proud of you both! You've done the Weyr proud. Thank you, Nyith."
He pulled Traelyn close again, having never felt like this before in his life. His dragon was a father! It was almost as awe-inspiring as becoming a father himself, or so he thought. A soft kiss, and a hint of smugness. "To the future of the Weyr.."
