Enjoying a Restday Swim

Writers: AL, Ames
Date Posted: 26th July 2011

Characters: Famell, Irabel
Description: Famell and Irabel talk while enjoying a relaxing swim
Location: Dolphin Hall
Date: month 2, day 20 of Turn 6

The water was cool as it gently lapped at her body. Irabel didn't
fight the gentle rocking of the ocean she drifted through it. The sun
was warm on her face and the parts of her body that were above the
water, but below it was sweetly cool. She didn't swim, just floated,
her eyes closed as she enjoyed the feel of the cradle that embraced
her.

He, too, had been enjoying the quieter aspects of this rest day.
Famell, with Tafa had been swimming for countless candlemarks. Now,
with Tafa off playing with her podmates, Famell swam his way closer to
shore. That was when his eyes caught sight of another of his
dolphineers.

Swimming over towards her, he grinned. "Enjoying your rest day?"

Irabel opened one eye, the blue peering beneath dark blonde eyelashes
to fall upon Famell. It closed momentarily, but her lips
quirked up into a smile. "I am indeed, Hallmaster. So much so that I
may just stay here until I'm nothing but crispy bacon."

He chuckled, "Well, I can't say you'd be much good to us all fried
up." Famell was amused by her words. Like most dolphineers, she
preferred to water. It was something that drew them all together.

"I'd be tasty, though." Irabel chuckled softly. "At least the
dolphins would get a good snack." She opened one eye again and
regarded her Hallmaster. "What about you? Plan to just swim all day?"

"If I could breathe underwater and not get tired, I'd live out here,"
her replied with a slight chuckle. "I think some of my _desk_ work as
Hallmaster has caused me to lose some of my endurance. I'm ready to
head in for now. You staying?"

"Even if I couldn't breathe underwater, if I could just do what the
dolphins do, I'd be the same way. Alas, humans are so limited."
Irabel not only had a great fondness for dolphins, but a great
admiration for their intelligence, their humour, and their great
empathy. "Dolphins don't get wrinkly either."

"So true," Famell chuckled. He turned towards the shore. "I'm afraid I
need a bit of a rest."

"All right, Hallmaster. Have a good rest of your day. I'm going to
stay out here and get wrinkly some more." Irabel just honestly wasn't
in the mood to be on shore just yet, though she wouldn't have minded if
the company had lingered.

"Enjoy," Famell remarked with a smile as he started to swim for shore.
He longed for the days when he had less to see to, but yet he was
enjoying the chance to make a difference by leading the Hall.
