Writers: AL, Heather K
Date Posted: 26th August 2011

Characters: E'ril, Sofeya
Description: E'ril visits the Hold and finds a new friend
Location: Amber Hills Hold
Date: month 3, day 19 of Turn 6
Notes: Notes: Post 1 of 3

}: It smells different here.:{ Dawenth observed plainly as he
backwinged into a clearing just off the main hold. }: It smells like
wood and grass. Not like home where it just smells of the sea. I like
it.:{

E'ril took a deep breath in and nodded in agreement. **I do too.** Even
though he had never been to Amber Hills it already reminded him of his
childhood home. The first and perhaps most important feature he noticed
was that it was so much quieter than Dolphin Cove. He took his time
removing his riding gear as his eyes busy taking in the new scenery
around him. This was truly going to be a relaxing rest day.

Sofeya stepped out of the hold and glanced up at the sky. She noted
its appearance, but without any expression on her face to give rise to
whatever thoughts might have formed in response to it. When that gaze
lowered, it caught sight of a man, one she didn't recognise even in
passing - one who had knots on his shoulder to indicate his status as a
rider. Her lips relaxed into a smile and she placed one hand on her
hip and waited til he came closer to speak, "Looking for something?"

The women in front of him was a sight to behold into. Her clothing clung
to every curve of her body, E'ril's eyes couldn't help but travel the
lines they created. He checked himself and his expression.
"Nothing...in particular. Just here for a visit. I have to admit I've
never had the opportunity to come out this way before."

"Oh _really_?" New blood, and that usually meant for a fun time.
Sofeya lifted her free hand and made an all encompassing sweep with
it. "Welcome to Amber Hills. If you'd like, I'll show you around."
A man was always worth showing around.

A tour did sound nice and she seemed pleasant enough even if her tone
did sound a little mischievous. **I may need your help here, pal. Keep
me from trouble.**

}: Trouble? She doesn't sound or look like trouble. I don't know what
help you think I'll be.:{

"A tour sounds like just the right thing," he said with a smile and then
gestured for her to lead the way. "I'm E'ril by the way, Dawenth's
rider. I don't believe I caught your name."

Sofeya didn't move off right away. Rather she stepped closer to E'ril
and slipped her arm through his. "I'm Sofeya. A pleasure to make your
acquaintance, E'ril." She guided him not into the hold proper, but
around to the side to lead him on a tour of the grounds. "What brought
you to Amber Hills?"

E'ril half smirked as the woman took his arm. There was nothing wrong
with this and when she didn't lead him into the hold proper but rather
kept outside he relaxed a little more. "Just wanted to get some fresh
air and be away from the Weyr for a bit. The change of scenery is nice
as well." He said looking around him and then down at her.

"Amber Hills is a very nice place to visit." Sofeya almost cooed as
she turned toward the right and led him into a garden. "Even though it
can get cold in the winter, it's lovely then too. Have you been to the
Vintner Hall? After we tour the grounds, perhaps we should make our
way there, I'm sure you'd like it."

"A glass of good wine couldn't hurt," he replied and he meant it. **You
hear that? Just a glass.** He said this to himself as well as to Dawenth
who responded with a mental grumble.

"So, Sofeya, have been here all your life then?"

"Oh yes, been here all my life." All her wretched, miserable life.
But still, there was some to be had and if Sofeya could manage it, the
day wouldn't be a total loss. "A glass of wine, you can have that at
the Tavern attached to the Hall, and a decent meal. Perhaps we can
lunch together there?"

"You've got a date," he replied with a wink. He wasn't normally this
charming but his good mood was starting to have an effect on him. "So
all your life huh? What do you do here at the Hold then?"

"Oh, whatever is needed to be done. I'm not really very important, but
I try to do the best I can do." Sofeya guided him to a bench that was
backed by a lattice upon which climbing flowers made their way up. She
studied them a moment, then continued leading him through the garden.
"What about you? Tell me something about yourself."

E'ril willingly followed and inspected the plants and flowers as they
caught his attention. "Something about me, hm? Let's see. At the moment
the thing that sticks out the most is how busy I am at the Weyr right
now. I'm a Weyrling Assistant and have been for a few Turns now. Our
newest class is quite large so things have been pretty hectic since
they hatched. Hence the much needed trip to your lovely Hold today."

"Oh you must be awfully busy indeed!" Sofeya drew them around the
garden and back to where they had enter it to lead him outside. "The
Hall is down this way, just a little of a walk if you'd like to visit.
The Tavern is there too."

"Yeah, it gets pretty crazy sometimes chasing around dragonets and
dealing with teenage riders. But, enough about work. I'm about ready
for a good glass of wine or maybe something a bit stronger. I prefer
sweet things and that goes for wines too," he looked her up and down
approvingly and his mind began to wonder unchecked. Weyr men and women
may be less inhibited but there was still something to be said for Hold
folk.

"Well then." Sofeya's voice was almost a purr as they passed through
the arch and guided him toward the road that would lead to the Hall -
and the Tavern. "Let's not waste another moment. To the Tavern we go!"

E'ril followed her quite willingly and continued to take in the outdoor
scenery around him. It was different not having the ocean on your
backstep or having the sound of waves around in the distant background.
He laughed lightheartedly at her enthusiasm. **This was a wonderful
idea. Are you enjoying yourself?**

}: The sun is warm and the breeze is nice. I am content. You have your
fun and do not worry so about me.:{ Along with his reassurance the blue
sent a wave of love to his lifemate. Dawenth was happiest when E'ril
was out of his weyr and among people.
