Description: L'ris' parents meet his new dragonet.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 5, day 4 of Turn 6
Five minutes after Impressing Tyerth , Layris, now L'ris, already knew his
new lifemate was curious and talkative. And that the only way to make him
shut up was to give him food. L'ris showed more food down Tyerth's waiting maw. "Remember to chew," he admonished. With Tyerth concentrating to eat, he finally had moment to actually take a good look at his dragon. Well, he certainly wasn't a blue. L'ris wasn't surprised, brown was what he had truly expected deep down. Tyerth looked solidly built, sturdy. He wasn't graceful like his blue or green clutch siblings. He wasn't as big as his bronze brother, but he wasn't much smaller either. His colour was peculiar, darker, rich earth brown on the back side, almost yellow at the belly. "What do you call that shade?" L'ris wondered out loud.
"Ochre?" a voice suggested and then L'ris was wrapped into a tight embrace. L'ris recognized Jedun's soft, round arms and S'yod's muscular, wiry dragonrider's arms.
"Dads!" L'ris cried happily.
"Congratulations, son, you made us proud," S'yod said and ruffling his
hair, let go off his hold.
Jedun was still holding L'ris and weeping "My little boy is no longer a
boy, he's a man now."
"Let go off him, you'll smother him," S'yod said to his weyrmate of twenty
turns. His eyes looked bit moist too.
Jedun did let L'ris go when Tyerth started to butt them and demand more
food. "This hungry beast is certainly not a blue or green. Why don't you
introduce us?
Tossing more meat to Tyerth, L'ris used his free hand to scratch the
brown's ear knobs. "Tyerth, meet my parents, greenrider S'yod and cook
Jedun. They brought me up after my birth mother abandoned me. They are very dear people to me." Tyerth stopped eating long enough to give them a
curious, inspecting look.
Those words made Jedun sniffle again.
The crowd at the feeding place started to thin out when dragonets finished
eating and started to move towards the weyrling barracks. S'yod's green,
Sireith, flew to greet the newcomer. }: Hi there, I'm Sireith,:{ the
green said.
}: I'm Tyerth. Will I be as big as you are someday?:{ Tyerth replied and
asked.
}: Someday you will be bigger than me,:{ Sireith replied and nuzzled the
dragonet.
"What a lovely sight," Jedun sighed.
"Tyerth doesn't seem to be eating any more. Why don't we help you two to
get settled to the barracks?" S'yod remarked with voice of reason.
"Yeah. Oh, most of my things are still in your weyr," L'ris said. Although
he had moved to candidate barracks, he had taken only the most necessary to there. The thought of moving out of the weyr he had been living whole his life filled L'ris with sudden sadness. His life was irrevocably changed.
