Snarky Behavior

Writers: Heather K, Len
Date Posted: 23rd January 2012

Characters: Delria, Catrien, G'wen
Description: Delria and Catrien agree to give Neath a bath, much to their own horror
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 5, day 10 of Turn 6

The large wave created by the belligerent green caught Catrien off
guard. She'd been too busy trying to duck Neath's large wing. With a
yelp, she was swept off her feet and fell into the water. It made no
difference that it was in Inner Lake and therefore warm, she was still
soaked from head to foot and even into her underwear. With a
disgusted snort, she threw her brush away from her as hard as she
could.

"If you weren't G'wen's and he wasn't so hurt, I'd...I'd.." She
glared at the dragon who sat in the pool. "I'd beat you to within an
inch of your life, so help me I would!"

At the mention of his name, she turned to look at her friend who lay
on his side, oblivious to the destruction his green was causing. The
brush he was supposed to have used on Neath was curled under his chin,
like a stuffed toy and he looked to be having a nice dream. Cat
half-heartily splashed water in his direction before turning to
Delria. "If you laugh..."

Delria held up her hands defensively. "Oh no, I wouldn't dream of it,"
she answered sarcastically. The smirk on her face betrayed her. Bathing
Neath was proving a more difficult task than either she or Catrien had
imagined. With G'wen on the mend and not able to wash his green himself
they had volunteered not thinking she would be _this_ much of a handful.

"Neath, seriously, you have to stay still. The more you twirl about the
longer this takes." While Catrien had been busy being splashed by Neath,
Delria herself had been scrubbing what parts of the dragon that didn't move.

}:Why can't G'wen wash me?:{ Neath complained to the two tiny greens
curled around her sleeping lifemate, like overlarge flits. }:I don't
like the way they do it!:{ The girls' small hands tickled. They just
didn't do it like G'wen did and it irritated her all the more. With a
snort, she stomped her hind foot, creating another wave to knock
Delria off her feet.

Camieth merely snorted at Neath and curled into a tighter ball. She did
not have the energy to entertain Neath's whining. Her meal had been sizeable
and her hide was supple for the moment. A perfect time for a nap in the warmth
of the cavern.

Cat tried not to laugh_too_much at the site of Delria now dripping
head to toe in water. Instead she muttered, "Wet
underwear_sucks_doesn't it?" and gave Neath the dirtiest look she
could.

Delria merely groaned and got back to work. In her mind the sooner they were
done with their chore the better. She was already tired from her day
with Camieth. They had told them that a new dragonet would be a lot
of work but those had only
been words. Now they were living it and still Delria couldn't be happier.

"Almost done, Neath. Not much longer. If you can just contain yourself
for a few... more...moments." Her voice became strained as she reached for a
particularly high spot on the green's wing joint. "Cat, can we please
never let G'wen do
anything this stupid again? I do not think any of us want to try this again."

"Please," snorted Catrien, "it's G'wen. Give him another sevenday,
he'll come up with something even more stupid to get himself in
trouble over." She glanced over at the sleeping person in question.
"He shouldn't even be here. He should be in bed."

"Agreed but for now he seems comfortable enough. He's got the warmth of
the cavern and with bedfellows like our girl's I guess there's no complaints."
She sighed heavily and climbed down from Neath's back. Wading over to
the side of the pool Delria wiped droplets from her face and said,
"Well, I think I've had
about enough. Go ahead and step out, Neath. Drip dry for a moment while we catch
our breath and admire our work."

The dark green eyed her closely and--with deliberate movement--walked
deep into the pool and dived under. Deep out into the lake she
resurfaced and gave Delria a look that seemed to say 'do something
about that.'

Though she wasn't thrilled about Neath's snarky behavior Delria just didn't
much care right now. She was _so_ glad that Camieth didn't have an attitude
on her like that. Folding her arms she called to Neath, "Fine. Stay wet. I won't
be drying you off and I'm willing to bet Catrien won't either."

"Nope, you get to stay out there all night, for all that I care."
Stalking out of the water, Catrien went over to the sleeping G'wen and
plopped down with a loud squishing sound. It took everything she had
not to punch the greenrider, just for letting a monster like Neath go
so long without discipline.

"Whaddaya say we get this over with then and wake everyone else up?
I'd like a nap myself," Delria said as she yawned. Even as she spoke
the words she
knew sleep was a few candlemarks away at least.

Catrien nodded and nudged G'wen to wake up. "Come on, sleeping
beauty. Tell that horrible green thing out in the middle of the lake
to stop being such a miserble git, would you?" She rolled her
eyes at Delria as the dark boy blinked awake and moved their greens
off him.

Smiling a little to herself, in spite of the rough time Neath had given them,
Delria helped Camieth to her feet. After much yawning and stretching the group
trudged their way out of the bathing cavern. A quick look over her shoulder told
her that they were only followed by a stream of bubbles.
