When they emerged into the Weyrbowl everything seemed fine but he felt
the jar and pain from Imalkyth when they touched down. **What is it?**

}:I hurt mine:{

K'ale unbuckled and slid down his side, "Where?" Then he switched his
approach. "Let's go to the healers and let them take a look." He
turned and lead the way over to where the healers attended their
patients after a fall.

"Excuse me," he called as he approached.

W'ser had just finished checking over a green who had strained a
muscle in her neck when he heard himself being spoken to, looking up,
he smiled at K'ale, "Hello there. What seems to be the problem?" He
asked as he looked over the dragonrider's shoulder at the waiting
dragon.

"Imalkyth is complaining that he hurts and it seems to be in his
wing." K'ale was concerned but not overly so. He couldn't see any
wounds or ichor.

"Well, let's have a look at it then, he could have just strained a
muscle or tendon while he was flying." The Weyrdragonhealer said as he
walked over to where Imalkyth was waiting, "Which wing seems to be
giving him the trouble?"

"It's the right," and right on cue Imalkyth lifted it slightly then
crouched and let it extend out for the healer to examine.

W'ser fell quiet as he began to examine the wing that the dragon
extended. It was easy to see that just the motion of moving the wing
was unsettling to the dragon so W'ser worked as quickly as possible.
Placing both his hands on the dragon's wing, W'ser made quick work of
pressing all over the different muscles, tendons, and joints.

"It seems like just a muscle strain," W'ser said finally, and with
relief, "which isn't too uncommon. He just needs to rest his Wing,
keep it tucked up close to his side. No flying for at least a
sevenday, and I'll tell your Wingleader that you'll not be in the next
'Fall either. At the end of the sevenday I'll check with you and
Imalkyth again to see how the wing is healing."

He was disappointed of course. Here he'd just begun flying with the
wing and now he had to tell the Wingsecond he'd be out for a sevenday
at least. This was under the healers orders of course. But still...
"Yes, thanks" he nodded.

W'ser could see the disappointment in the set of the younger rider's
shoulders, "Don't worry, you'll be back in the air in no time.
Meanwhile just make sure that Imalkyth remembers to use his wing as
little as possible."

"I will," answered the young brownrider. Imalkyth's health was his
most important concern. "Is there anything else I can do for him?"

"Just be there for him," W'ser grinned, "you know how it is to be laid
up injured or sick, dragons like being restricted even less. I
remember Branth had a similar problem one time and he was _such_ a big
baby about it."

}:Was not.:{ Branth humphed.

**Was so, and besides, it was so long ago that you can't even remember
it.** W'ser quipped back with an inward laugh.

"Alright," K'ale nodded and envisioned lugging buckets of water up 4
flights of stairs so Imalkyth could have a drink of water. "At least
he just ate yesterday."

"That _is_ a good thing, although I would have offered to have Branth
bring him some bucks. If you have any trouble caring for him just let
me know, I've plenty of apprentices that I can send to help out."
W'ser's smile was one of warmth and sincerity. He knew how hard it
was, first hand, to care for a sick or injured dragon. In W'ser's
opinion it was much harder having a dragon for a patient than a
human... but then of course he was biased.

"I appreciate that," he said with a smile. "But I think the thing
he'll miss the most is the green flights." Imalkyth had been chasing
almost everything that rose which kept his rider off balance. "Not
that he's caught one yet but he's getting better. Sort of learning the
ropes." K'ale grinned.

W'ser laughed at that, remembering very clearly when he and Branth had
been anxiously flying every green in hopes of getting their first
catch. Now the brown didn't participate in _every_ flight, but often
enough that he and W'ser didn't lack for physical affection.

"Maybe a break will cause him to be even more tenacious when he gets
to fly a green again and he'll succeed." W'ser pointed out.

K'ale grinned certain the other rider had guessed what they'd been
going through. Truly it was just a part of the dragon's maturity. "I
sure hope so." A grumbly rumble from the big brown made him roll his
eyes. "He wants to go back to his wallow now. Thanks for all your
help!"

"No problem, K'ale." W'ser smiled, liking the feeling that filled his
chest whenever he helped someone. Just another reason why W'ser was
made to be a dragonhealer.
