Description: The two Weyrlings chat before drills
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 8, day 5 of Turn 6
Notes: Mentioned: E'ron, Sh'del
T'aesh lounged in the Dining Cavern, a plate of half eaten food pushed
to the side of him. Raisheth was sunning himself, and his rider was
allowing the content and drowsy feeling to wash over him. He had at
least another candlemark before he had to meet up with with the other
weyrlings for class, so he wasn't in any big hurry. He leaned back
further in his seat, and closed his eyes, humming to himself, enjoying
this small respite as he was in reverie with his brown lifemate.
Pierka had picked up her lunch tray and looked around for a familiar
face. She didn't expect E'ron as he was still involved with his wing
drills. But she did see one of her fellow Weyrlings. "Hello T'aesh,"
she said. "Anyone sitting here?"
T'aesh opened one eye, and smile. "Nope, it's all yours Pierka" he
said to the greenrider and feel classmate. The young brownrider had
to admit that he didn't know Pierka all that well, but she seemed a
nice enough girl. She was small, and so was her Liddith, but still
pretty nice.
"Ready for drills then?" he asked her nonchalantly. Today, drills
were the furthest thing from his mind.
"Yeah," she nodded and shoveled a forkful of vegetables in her mouth.
"Do you know what we're doing yet?"
T'aesh shook his head, and then leaned back in his chair in his
relaxed position once again. "Nope. Sh'del nor E'ron said anything
to me, but this close to graduation we'll probably be in the skies all
day." The thought of graduating from weyrlinghood, and joining the
fighting wings was constantly on T'aesh's, and probably every other
weyrling of his class, mind.
She listened as she chewed. "Yeah, I'll bet you will," she waggled her
eyebrows. She rode green not bronze so she'd only be spending half a
Fall in the air. The same went for drills.
T'aesh sighed, "Yeah, lucky us." He then opened one eye and looked at
his fellow classmate. "How is Liddith doing by the way?" he asked.
Of course she was doing alright, if she wasn't the entire Weyr would
know, but it was always polite to ask.
"She's doing very well," she answered with a smile. "She's really got
the hang of flaming a good solid stream." Pierka was quite proud of
her lifemate. "I think we're ready for night drills."
"Excellent," T'aesh replied, closing his eyes and leaning back again.
"How much time we got left before we need to be heading out?" he asked
the greenrider.
"Well, it's almost dark. I was planning on going out there after I
finished." T'aesh looked like he was done with his plate already.
"Maybe half a candlemark."
T'aesh sighed. No need in trying to catch a nap then. As soon as he
would be close to sleep, it would be time for drill, and that would
only make him agitated and that would effect his training. And this
close to graduation, everything need to be as perfect as it could be.
"Guess I better prepare myself then," he responded.
"Yeah me too," she said picking up her tray. "See you in the bowl."
