Description: The healer goes to speak privately with his friend.
Location: Amber Hills Hold
Date: month 8, day 22 of Turn 6
Notes: Mentioned: Sinla, Alivya
Seeing Keayd and his gift, Chupsin thought it might be good to try and
smooth things over a bit. He hated having to deceive his friend, but
even Keayd would have issues with what he had done-since deep down he
himself did as well. It was just one of those things. He had to
protect Alivya's reputation as well, or their child would be ruined
before it was even born.
Keayd was leaning against a wall, eating from a plate in his hand. He
didn't know most of the people present (except by reputation) and felt
out of place.
"You get enough to eat?" the healer asked the vintner as he looked at
the choices Keayd had put on his plate. "And why don't you sit down?"
"Yes," Key nodded and lifted the plate up to show how much he had collected
on it. "Because my back hurts," he sighed. His clubfoot pulled his
spine askew so he had back problems besides the foot.
"Do you need me to get you something?" If it wasn't anything severe,
Chupsin could try and massage it a bit. It would be easier in a back
room, however.
"Naah, I'll manage. I just skip the dancing part," Key replied with a
hint of a smile.
"Well thanks for coming. And know this doesn't change things. You're
still welcome whenever you want." Indeed, the healer really didn't
have that many friends at the Hold, despite growing up there.
"Thanks," Key nodded his head. He didn't have too many friends either.
"Last time we saw, you didn't talk about getting married," there was
unvoiced question in that remark.
"Well, I hadn't asked her father's permission yet so I wasn't sure if
it was going to happen or not," he explained, hoping the vintner
understood. If there were too many more questions, Chupsin was going
to have problems.
Keayd was actually feeling envious. "Lucky you," he sighed. "Here I am
, desperate to find anyone who would take me, and you only have to
snap your fingers and you got yourself a wife," his tone was bitter.
"Hey, don't be like that. Your time will come. Shells, all you have to
do is ask Sinla and she can find you a woman in no time. Might not be
the perfect woman, mind you.." His eyebrows went up as he thought
again about his sister and her matchmaking ways.
"Thanks but no thanks. I already have a sister-in-law for that
purpose," Key replied with a slight shudder. He liked his
sister-in-law but her attempts in match making were just horrible
disasters.
"Allright but you can't say I didn't try. I've got to go and dance or
something probably, but I'll try and get with you in a few days' time.
Say hello. There are some unattached women around here." He indicated
his head in the direction of one such female.
"I'll keep my eyes open," Keayd replied to Chupsin's gesture. But who
would want a cripple?
