K'deren

Cyradis had spent the entire afternoon and into the evening with the
healers attending to the injured. Panitath relayed her reports and
reassured all the concerned dragons and their riders with the news as
she delivered it. She herself had gone back outside and spoken to
Loseth encouraging him as much as she possibly could under the
circumstances. But at least the Weyrleader was awake and responsive.
She imagined if there was a way for the big bronze to squeeze through
the door he would have. Panitath had stationed herself to stay with
the injured green and keep her from going etween prematurely.

When she finally got back to her weyr it was late and she was so very
very tired. She realized that she was still covered with crackdust and
didn't recall where her agenothree tank was. She rubbed her temples
and began shedding her flying leathers.

On making sure his wing were safely back on the ground, or as safe as they
could be following a brutal fall, K'deren had taken the time to at least
shed his flying leathers and get the straps off Donneth followed by a fast
dragon bath and oiling, for once his children hadn't objected to helping
with that chore.

It was then that he asked Donneth to speak to Panitath, to see if she and
Cyradis were alright, and ask what she knew of the Weyrleader's condition.

}:Donneth's is asking how you are feeling.:{

**Exhausted** she said as she slid into her warm pool and grabbed a
fist full of sweet sand to wash away the stink of Fall. **But I'd love
to see him if he wants to come down.**

**Tell her I'll be there soon, I just need to clean up a little,** K'deren
asked his brown when he got the reply.

Cyradis had a folded towel on the ledge of her pool and leaned her
head back. She decided to just soak for a little bit. ** Whenever he's
ready is fine.**

K'deren had bagged up his filthy clothing, and splashed water and sweetsand
onto the worst of the dirt before finding cleaner clothes. Then he made his
way to Cyradis' weyr, calling out as he entered.

"It's me, can I come in?"

"Come on in," she smiled and raised her head. "I'm in here," she
called when she heard the door open. She didn't want to get out of the
pool yet, the water seemed to help drain away the aches and tension
from the Fall and it's aftermath.

K'deren slipped into the bathing chamber. "Want company?" he asked. "I
cleaned the worst off, but there are some parts you can never reach by
yourself."

"Sure," she chuckled. "Let me help you wash those... parts."

Clothing was shed, and he slipped into the warm water. "That feels good,"
the brownrider commented as he settled himself next to her. "Have you heard
anything about N'vanik?"

"Yes," she said preoccupied by the losses in the day's fall. She'd
already been on the ground when the dragon's began keening for their
loss. She'd instantly questioned Panitath thinking the weyrling green
had etweened but no it was a veteran blue who'd never come back
from a bad score.

"He's got a concussion. The healers are watching over him." She had to
admit that she'd been more worried about him than she'd expected given
their rather adversarial relationship. "This was just a bad fall."

"It was a very bad fall," he repeated, even as he slid an arm around the
goldrider, aiming for comfort more than anything else. "But he'll recover,
whatever else you might think of him, he's a capable Weyrleader."

"Yes," she said softly. "Yes he is." She found it difficult to get
past the personal animosity that had built between them but
surprisingly she was actually worried about him and what could have
happened if his injuries had be worse. A bad catch or a bigger dragon
and they could have lost both N'vanik and Loseth. That thought scared
her more than she wanted to admit.

She took a deep breath. "I'm glad you're here," she smiled.

"I'm glad you're here too," he responded. "Having someone to talk to, it
makes the bad falls easier."

She reached out for his other hand under the water and leaned her head
against his shoulder. "It could have been so much worse."

"I know," he said softly, thoughts drifting to Vonalie for a moment. "I
don't know what's worse, someone you don't really know being lost in fall,
or ..." His voice trailed off, knowing she'd understand.

She did understand and squeezed his hand. From how he'd described
Trievan and Deralie's mother, she rather thought she would have liked
the greenrider very much. But she was grateful at this moment in time
to have his arm around her. Cyradis had promised herself, after her
debacle with her last weyrmate, that she wouldn't get involved again.
Yet, K'deren was different and she trusted him.

"I am thankful we didn't lose N'vanik or the weyrling today. His quick
thinking saved her life. But it could have been a hard blow to the
Weyr to lose him at time like this." She shook her head slightly. No
matter her personal issues with the man he was a capable Weyrleader.

"The healers will do their best to make sure we won't lose either of them,"
K'deren said after a long moment. "We have the best here."

The weyrling in question wasn't 'hers' but they already felt like hers
and they were her responsibility And the bluerider who'd been lost in
the type of injury that was most horrific to any rider. "Did you know
Hormith's rider?"

"Not very well," admitted K'deren.

"I guess I'll have to talk to R'enh about it. I want to know if he had
a weyrmate who will need some help getting through this." She shook
her head. "This whole thing couldn't have come at a worse time. I know
Panitath will Rise soon."

K'deren couldn't help but feel for him, "I don't know about a weyrmate, but
I think he might have had a younger sister, she'll need some help to sort
things out."

"Alright," she said knowing there would be work for her tomorrow.
There was another person who came to mind and she'd need to know as
well. But again, that could wait until tomorrow. She let out a rather
heavy sigh. Then she turned around in the water and straddled
K'deren's lap putting her arms around his neck. "So have you soaked
enough," she asked softly. "Or should I wash you?"

"Well," he said as he put his arms around her. "There's this spot I can't
quite reach by myself."

Her eyes crinkled with amusement and for a moment the cares of the day
slipped away. "Come to think of it. I believe I have a spot or two you
need to take a close look at... you know, just to make sure they're
clean." She moved a hand from around his neck and her fingers trailed
down his chest moving slowly south. "Tell me when I find the spot."
