Characters: J'darin, D'cal
Description: J'darin calls D'cal to his office to discuss a mutual friend.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 9, day 3 of Turn 3
Swearing softly at the need, but knowing it for true based on his last visit with Dyaera, J'darin sent Oak with a note for D'cal asking him to report to his office after dinner. Frowning over the whole situation, he decided he was _not_ the best resource for advice on love, but he did care for Dyaera and would not see her hurt, or D'cal for that matter.
He knew the boy struggled with some sides to his personality; who wouldn't? A _blue_rider after all. But neither of them should keep hurting each other this way.
With a faint sigh wondering how he got himself into these things, he settled back to await D'cal showing up.
}:You care for them. :{ offered Hasaarth and J'darin blinked, frowning out toward the ledge.
**Shh! If people knew that, my image would be ruined!** But he was laughing.
The blue weyrling was less than pleased at the summons. **What does that man want now? Doesn't he have better things to do now than toy with riders of _lesser_ dragons?**
}: I am not lesser, :{ Aosorath stated matter of factly.
**No, you're not!** D'cal affirmed with conviction. **And I am not a lesser rider!** And he would never forgive the Weyrling Master... no, now he was _Weyrleader_... for implying that either of them were lesser to _anyone_. The weylings lips twisted into a sneer as he rounded the corner to the Weyrleader's office. J'darin probably wanted to gloat. The bronzerider probably took advantage of the end of D'cal's relationship with Dyaera and now that sharding man just wanted to gloat over him and throw it in his face. Well, let him. It's over and none of his business now. D'cal had moved on. He had Zanie, and that was enough for him. **That is enough...** Then why did is still hurt so sharding much!
He took a deep breath, determined not to show any emotion to J'darin, and knocked on the Weyrleader's door with forced gentleness. At the summons he stepped inside. "You wanted to see me, Weyrleader?"
"I did, D'cal. Please sit down." He paused, watching him for a moment.
"How is your Aosorath? I know you two are doing well in the end of your training here. We're getting close to graduation too." "Aosorath is strong and fast, sir." And smarter than a lot of the bronzes to boot. Who's the lesser dragon now! "I'm sure it will not be long now before we are placed into a wing."
"Well, you've another month until graduation, but then, you will go right into a Wing. As a matter of fact, you're coming into my Wing."
J'darin smiled faintly, though it was not a full smile. He knew the blue weyrling would not find that precisely welcome news, and he was not certain he did either. "But that isn't why I called you here.." He sighed. It would be easier talking about wing assignments than what he had called him here to discuss. "I'm afraid that's quite personal." "Personal, sir?" Yup, it was going to be about Dyaera...
Surprised by the lack of reaction to being told he was going to join the Weyrleader's wing when the time came, J'darin gathered his thoughts and went on past that. "Yes, and I'm speaking as both a Weyrleader and a man who cares." He frowned, though not at D'cal. He seemed to be a little different, this man, than he used to be. Finally he went on.
"I've been to see Dyaera and she's hurting so much.. I just want to know, what's happened now? I thought the two of you were getting along well, and she was coming to life again, despite her injuries." There was only a tiny bit of accusation in his tone; the bronzerider was prepared to listen, and help. Although why he thought he needed to get in the middle of the two of them was a mystery to even himself. "I wouldn't be so sure it was _me_ bringing her to life, sir." A certain brownrider came to mind, not to mention that he suspected that the J'darin's visit was a little friendlier than just a concerned Weyrleader.
J'darin shook his head. "On the contrary, I do think it was you. Since you haven't been to see her lately is when I noticed her falling back a bit on her healing. I understand you can't force two people to be together, but I'm just wondering if all you both need is a shove in the right direction." J'darin coughed, then sighed softly. "But its none of my business, is it? I only want _all_ the riders in the Wings to be happy, and Dyaera needs more than physical healing. She needs mental healing as well to learn her scars do _not_ make her ugly even in the slightest." D'cal frowned. Dyaera wasn't improving? "It never had _anything_ to do with her scars, and she has other men who are willing to... to prove the that she is still attractive. And I know she takes advantage of that. She's doesn't need me to tell her. But if you think it would help her I will visit her and tell her so myself."
"I'm the last person who understands women, D'cal. But perhaps it would be helpful. I don't think she's sure, and even there are others..
there is still you, too, hmm?" The young man shifted his feet uncomfortably. "Actually, sir," **not that's any of your business**, "I have found... another girl..."
J'darin's eyebrows shot up. "Indeed? Well perhaps things will work themselves out after all. Although, it is not a wonder Dyaera is confused. The two of you were so certain you wanted each other... and now things have happened." The bronzerider sighed and shook his head.
"I am not trying to interfere in your business, D'cal. Just trying to help my riders.." D'cal could feel a stab of guilt. Dyaera wasn't the only one confused. As much as he truly cared for Zanie, he couldn't get Dyaera completely out of his thoughts. If what J'darin said was true, it sounded as if she needed him. And yet all they seemed to do was hurt each other. Shards, why did love in the Weyr have to be so _complicated_! "I will speak to her. But that is all I can do. It is for the best. For both of us." As much as it hurt them both, D'cal _had_ to believe it was for the best.
"You two know what's best, I hope." J'darin said quietly. "I apologize for dragging you in here to talk about this, but I am quite worried about her." The bluerider nodded slowly. "I will see what I can do."
"That's why I called you in, D'cal. I am grateful." And that was as far as it went. "If you have nothing else, you can be dismissed. I don't expect any reports or anything; it was an unofficial request." D'cal surprise at the Weryleaders admission of gratitude was eclipsed only by his relief to be dismissed. Giving the Weryleader a polite salute he turned and walked out the door, wondering just what _he_ could do for Dyaera now, but determined to try, for her sake.
