Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 12, day 7 of Turn 6
Notes: Mentioned: N'vanik, U'das
She'd already
seen the folks she wanted to see. She had eaten and
danced and Rhosyn was
feeling pretty good after downing the wine. It
was good wine. After a
dance with U'das, the River Bluff Weyrwoman
felt eyes on her back and she
turned around to see a familiar face.
"Well well.."
Z'an had walked
silently up behind Rhosyn and when she turned, he
gifted her with a warm
smile. "I could say the same. Come to enjoy our wine
this time?"
"Of
course! And to see if your Weyrwoman has decided to stay," she
quipped
easily. She'd also come to see N'vanik, but everyone knew that.
"Then again,
there's also that pesky matter of social ranking duty
and
such."
Laughing easily, Z'an offered the Weyrwoman his arm. "Oh,
horror. The
social duties. I feel your pain, poor woman." He also gave a mock
wounded
stare. "Not to see me at all?"
"I had an idea you'd be here,
aye," she replied with a wry grin. "Have
you had any of the wine as well? Or
those delightful creamy puffy things?"
"Of course I've had the wine, but
not the crème puffy things." He
chuckled. "I don't have much of a sweet
tooth." He bent
conspiratorially. "So, do you think too many people will talk
if I
have a chance with you on the dance floor?"
"Mmmm they probably
will but I don't give a rip. Anyway, we did dance
at my Weyr so why not at
your Weyr?" She shrugged, happy for the chance. It
was hard to find a good
dance partner.
He leaned down to mock whisper in her ear. "Let's give 'em
a show
then." He winked playfully and then twirled her towards the
dance
floor, mischief dancing in his eyes.
She followed easily, her
small form practically floating along. Rhosyn loved
to dance. It was one of
the simple pleasures she could still have even with
her rank. The rhythm
wasn't hard to get and it wasn't long before she was
playing off of Z'an's
lead.
Z'an glanced around for N'vanik before, then pulled her a little
closer, his
face mischievous. He spun her around the dance floor with a
chuckle, his
feet nimble. "Let me guess, can't give a good show here
either?"
"Unless you want to be forcibly transferred.." was the quick
answer. Rhosyn
wasn't lying either for the most part. Although there was a
bit of her
that wanted to just let go. This wasn't the man to do that with,
however.
"Well, someone's a bit protective and possessive." Z'an sighed
and dipped
the Weyrwoman. He gave a mock pout. "Now, how am I supposed
to
make the moves on you with so many eyes on my back?" His
tone was
playful, letting her know that it was only in jest, though it
could have been
taken seriously in any other situation.
"I thought that was what dancing
was?" Forgoing conversation, she started to
move quickly as the music picked
up. The dress she wore was light fabric
since Dolphin Cove was so hot. It
wasn't hard to move around and she took
advantage of it.
"Different
kinds of moves, but I'll let you have that one." Z'an gave a deep
laugh and
picked up his feet, following her moves with ease. "So, how many
rumors do
you think we can start?" He waggled his brows, his hands laying
lightly on
her waist.
"These days I don't even have to do anything to start them. So
you'll
probably be the father of my baby tomorrow." She smiled, flashing
that
famous grin that made her look as if she were up to no
good.
Tossing his back to laugh, the chuckle rumbled out of Z'an's chest.
"Now
that's just not fair. Being accused of something and not even getting
the
chance to try." He swung her easily, dipping her down, and stealing a
peck
on the cheek.
"All I ask is that if anyone asks-you say it was
great," she returned,
nodding at a nearby couple before laughing. She was
indeed having a good
time.
"I could ask the same, you know. If anyone
asks, I knocked your riding boots
off, etcetera." Like Rhosyn, Z'an was
enjoying himself. Even though he was
attracted to the woman he was dancing
with, it was just as much fun spending
time with her.
And then the
music ended. Rhosyn clapped for the harpers even as she tried to
get her
breath back. It was great exercise for sure and she adored it. As a
Weyrwoman,
though, she couldn't allow her dancing to be monopolized. It
was customary to allow
multiple partners to vie for her attention.
Reaching a hand up to put a few strands of
copper back into place, she
laughed again. "Ah well, looks like a glass is needed. Thanks
for that,
Z'an."
"No, thank you. You're a great partner." He took her hand and
with
mischief dancing in his eyes, he pecked a light kiss to her
knuckles.
"Hopefully I'll get you to stay a bit longer next time you visit
and
I'll play for you."
