Jylanya

Aslvor with the help of her dolphin Cec worked to bring the agitated
dolphins into the safer area of the bay. She'd given the job of
ringing the bell to alert the Hall of the problem to one of the
apprentices who'd been in the water with them.

"It's all right," she murmured as she stroked the lead dolphin. "We
will help. Just tell us where the others are."

"Faaar. Took two moons to come. Trapped. Pleeeese Help." The little
bluish-gray dolphin spoke. "Help." The other dolphins that had arrived
with her repeated.

"We'll help. Don't worry," Aslvor replied. As they moved into the bay,
she noted that many had already gathered on the shoreline.

"We've got some trapped dolphins about two days from here!" She called
out, knowing the others would instantly start planning so they could
mount a rescue mission immediately before it was too late.

Kerchek slipped into the bay with the other dolphin and clicked
reassurances to the distressed. Irabel was on the shore and ran until
the water reached her knees. "Can you get a more definite location?"
Images of maps sprang to her mind, but they would need more details
before they could form a plan.

"I'll try," Aslvor called back, turning to talk to the dolphin. Trying
to get him to explain in more detail.

"It's south of here. A cave of some sort. The other dolphins are
trapped inside," Aslvor shook her head to indicate that she hadn't
gotten any more details from the little dolphin yet.

"South...two days." It wasn't much, but it was enough to get an idea.
"See if you can get more, have them describe currents, rock formations
and talk to Kerchek and other of our dolphins. They may be able to say
where it is. I'm going to get some maps, I'll be back as soon as I
can."

Aslvor nodded. The activity around them was frantic. People seemed to
have come from everywhere, many of them shouting out directions.
Others had dove into the water to examine two of the dolphins from the
small pod that had some injuries. She knew time was of the essence,
but they needed an idea of where to go first.

Finally with others handling the dolphins and as much information as
she could gather, Aslvor swam to the shore to share the information
with the others.

"I've gathered as much information from the new dolphins as they seem
to be able to share. A few others are working on getting more," she
gestured to the other dolphins and dolphineers still in the water.
"We're going to need to move fast. Apparently the dolphins are stuck
in some kind of cave. The one little one that's hurt over there,
managed to get out, but almost died in the process." Aslvor pointed to
the small dark gray dolphin that was currently being treated by a team
of dolphineers. "The others aren't going to survive long."

Naton, who had also arrived at the scene not long after the call,
nodded at Aslvor's information and stepped up beside Irabel and her
maps. "Do you think you can point out the location with the
information you gathered?" The man's expression was a long way away
from the usual grin it always portrayed and he was all business now.

Milga followed Naton. She wanted to help, to do something to help the
dolphins she so loved. But she was juniour apprentice. They were never
taken with on rescue operations.

"There are several underwater caves south of here. We just need to get
a more specific location." Irabel looked from the maps to where her
partner Kerchek was trying to do just that. "Let me see if Kerchek's
managed to get anything more. In the mean time, we know what supplies
we'll need. Naton, would you round up volunteers who will go with us?
Make sure we have at least a couple of healers. I'm going to round up
supplies. Milga, speak with Kerchek, see if he's gotten any more out
of the dolphins."

"On it," Naton said immediately. He wasn't normally someone to bring
up issues of seniority and especially in a matter of urgency he saw no
point in questioning a good call just because he was nearing his
Mastery.

"I can go," waved Kirten. His partner Birki bobbed near where he stood.

Jylanya had followed along and listened to what what going on. "Is
there anything you need me to do?"

Aslvor stood to the side, allowing the other dolphineers a chance to
gather things as she caught her own breath from all the activity that
had started to swirl around her. She could hear the commotion still in
the water as the dolphins talked.

Turning to Jylanya she gave her a quick nod. "Some food supplies would
be helpful if you could gather them. I don't think any of us will
think of that in our hurry to get to the dolphins."

Milga jumped into the water to talk with the dolphin. She made clicks with
her tongue that sounded almost like dolphin-clicks. They didn't mean
anything, but helped to soothe the distressed sea mammal.

Despite all the necessary supplies required for an underwater rescue,
things were moving quickly. People and things were gathered and
loaded. Irabel returned to the group, changed into a suit that would
help her keep warm under the water. "The vessel is almost ready. Do
we have any more information?" She slipped into the water to speak to
her partner and shot a piercing look to Milga, but said nothing to the
girl. "Aslvor, would one of the dolphins be able to guide us? If not,
Kerchek thinks he may know which one. We should go."

"There was some sort of cave in or maybe a small earthquake. The
little one managed to squeeze out because being small sized but got
badly scratched and also suffered from lack of air. There's air pocket
but no idea how long it will sustain them," Milga reported what she
had found out from the dolphins. "You need someone small and slim,"
she looked around the journeymen hopefully. Perhaps they could take
her with.

Aslvor heard the apprentice's words and turned towards her. "Great job
getting information from them Milga." She paused, then commented. "I
think it would be beneficial to bring someone like you with us. If the
space is small we might need someone who can shimmy inside in case we
can't. I think we should enlist the help of the dragons and send a few
dolphineers with Milga here to scout the situation and communicate
back while the rest of us travel by ship."

Aslvor turned back towards the dolphins she'd been communicating with.
Leaning into the water she talked with them, nodding. "Yes, it looks
like Bacca and Nam are confident that together they can lead us back
to the location. Some of the others want to stay with the little one
and need time to rest." Lots of action and activity was taking place
around them. Bags were being stacked, ships were being steered closer,
dolphins and dolphineers were suiting up for the extensive rescue
mission. Time was of the essence. The Hall was on the move to save as
many lives as possible.

"Alright then people, let's board," Naton nodded at his fellow
dolphineers and other volunteers that had rounded up to help make this
rescue mission a successful one.

"Yes, M'am," Milga replied and got up from the water. She was going with
them!

"We'll have things ready when you return," Jylanya said as she handed
aboard a large sack of fruit for quick energy.

"We need to get a move on," Aslvor nodded. "Let's go rescue these
dolphins!" It was a the final call to get the others moving. Time was
of the essence. Now the rescue needed to begin.
