N'vanik

N'vanik

}:You need to meet more people.:{
**No, I don't.**

}:She is in our wing,:{ Loseth's head turned to indicate a green. }:Tayleth is young and beautiful. You should go talk to hers.:{
**Why should I do that? I'm comfortable right here.** N'vanik had a bench to himself, which was not always easy to find.

}:Because I will be sad if you don't.:{
**C'mon, don't pull that on me!**

Loseth lowered his head and slumped his shoulders. N'vanik rolled his eyes.
**Alright. If I go say hello, will you stop that?**

}:Yes.:{ The bronze lifted his head.

With a sigh, N'vanik got up and walked over to where the young greenrider was bathing her dragon. "Hi."

"Hi," Venasa said barely looking away from her dragon. She had seen the bronzerider approaching her from a distance, and knowing that no escape root existed decided to try ignoring the rider.

**Is that good enough?** N'vanik asked his bronze.

}:No,:{ Loseth replied.

"My dragon seems to think we should meet. He has his eye on your green,"
N'vanik said. "I'm N'vanik, and that big pest over there is Loseth."

*As I'm sure you've had on me,** Venasa thought to herself, "Venasa," she said aloud, as she continued to scrub her green's hide, "and Tayleth."

N'vanik chuckled. "Well, I seem to have found someone even less talkative than me!" He'd been looking her over and decided he wouldn't mind getting a little more aquainted.

"I can be talkative," Venasa snapped, "when I'm in good company."

"Either you're trying to insult me," N'vanik smiled, "or my fame has preceded me."

"I've heard talk," Venasa said, "you _are_ in my wing after all." She was bluffing but hoped that it wouldn't show. Sure she heard the odd rumour about N'vanik, but typically she chose to ignore idle gossip. She just didn't think it smart to openly admit to insulting a bronzerider.

"Hmmmm . . . so does that mean you prefer your men to be decent and upstanding?"

"Definetly," Venasa responded seriously. **If at all.**

}:I don't understand why you don't like them that much,:{ Tayleth interrupted, }:you certainly like them well enough when I rise to mate.:{
**That's different,** Venasa tried to expain. Plus she would never let her insecurities regarding men harm her dragon in any way.

N'vanik shook his head. "How boring that must be."

"I prefer men that I can trust," Venasa pointed out, failing to mention that there were very few men on Pernshe actually trusted.

"Guess that counts me out. Too bad," he said. "If you ever feel a little risky, come find me."

**If I ever want to do something risky I would find someone better than you** she thought. She wasn't sure why the image of a certain candidate popped up in her mind, although she quickly surpressed it. Since she had to deal with N'vanik every day in drills she said aloud, "Will do," then went back to scrubbing her dragon.

N'vanik walked away, rolling his eyes. **Well, that was worth wasting my time,** he told Loseth. The bronze's reply was a mental shrug.
