Camyth's cobalt-blue hide sparkled in the sun when the dragon landed
outside the small hold. He had finally come to fetch his fiance, to take
her with him to the Weyr, as he had promised the day he was Searched. He
dismounted and attached his helmet to Camyth's straps.
He only took few steps towards the main door when a young woman came
running out.
"Xorian!" she screamed and then she was tightly wrapped in his arms.
"It's X'ian now. Ah, Kaitien, how I have missed you, my love," X'ian
corrected, holding her tight. She lifted her face and they kissed.
"I've missed you too. You came back for me," she said with breathless
voice when they broke up the kiss for some air.
"I made a promise, didn't I? I always keep my promises. Are you ready to go
with me, become my weyrmate?" X'ian replied and asked.
"Yes, more ready than you know," she replied.
X'ian studied her face, it had been such a long time since he last saw it.
They both were bit older. He did note that Kaitien had dark circles under
her eyes and she seemed?stressed or tense somehow. She also seemed to have
gained weight.
"Is everything all right my dear? Did you have rough time while I was
gone?"
"Some," she admitted. "As soon as we heard you had Impressed, my father broke
the hand fasting and started to look for new husband for me. I've been dodging
marriage suggestions ever since."
"Oh, my poor baby," X'ian whispered.
"Well, you're here now. Can we leave right away? Before my father notices
what's going on?" she said and seemed eager to go. Actually, X'ian thought
she sounded like she was in desperate hurry to leave.
"Aren't you going to take anything with you? At least you need a warm coat
and gloves," X'ian asked.
"Of course, how silly of me. Wait here, I won't take long," she said. One
more kiss and she returned inside, leaving X'ian stand next to his dragon.
X'ian scratched his head, something seemed off or wrong but he couldn't
pinpoint anything specific.
Fifteen minutes later she was back, with a bag, dressed in a coat, gloves
and woolen hat. "All set to go!"
X'ian helped her up and attached her and her bag to the straps. "Ready for
your new life, love?"
"I can't wait for it," she smiled brightly. But her eyes were cold as /between/.
They were already up in the air, ready to move /between/ when X'ian spotted
her father, running out from the Hold, yelling and waving his fist. They
were too high to hear what he yelled and then /between/ engulfed them.
He could only hope he wouldn't send a complaint to N'vanik about his
daughter being stolen by dragonrider.
