Description: D'ret gets some much needed help
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 13, day 24 of Turn 6
Notes: Mentioned: J'kri, Paetri
Once all the food was gone, D'ret was left alone with a sleepy, yet scared,
little green. Both J'kri and Paetri were able to lead their lifemates to
bed but he was having another difficult time. "Come on, Petrith. Your bed
is going to be wonderfully warm and comfortable, I promise," he said as he
gently rubbed her eyeridges.
The green blinked up at him, eyes whirling a yellowish green with
agitation. }: But you won't be there with me. Why won't you? I'm too scared
:{ she bespoke sleepily.
D'ret was about to lift her up again, even though his muscles were already
protesting at the thought. "Somebody help me," he moaned softly, unaware
that he was heard.
"Yes, D'ret, do you have a problem?" E'naer walked over to him. He had been
circulating the pairs, keeping an eye out for those who need help. With new
weyrlings it could be anything, from over-eating to personality issues.
"Oh, yes sir ... I can't get her to budge. She's afraid to be left alone in
her wallow. I've never seen a dragonet so scared of so much," he said with
a sigh as he looked up.
The little green also looked up and squealed in sudden fright. With all the
activity earlier, she hadn't noticed that people could be 'bigger' than her
lifemate but it was the man's face that frightened her most. }: What's
wrong with him?! :{
D'ret jumped at the squeal and almost fell over as Petrith shot behind him
and gripped his legs with her tail. "Petrith ... Pet, it's fine. He's a
good man!" he said aloud. ** Please shush now, he won't hurt you **
"I see, scared, huh?" E'naer replied. He croutched to be at the lever with
the hatchling. ** Eillie, you're need here.**
"What scares you, little sweetheart?" he asked with a gentle tone.
Petrith was shaking so hard that D'ret nearly fell over. Her rapidly
whirling eyes studied the man as he crouched, prepared to find another
hiding spot if he came any closer. }: Him ... :{
"I'm sorry sir, really. She says you scare her," he said with a grimace,
hoping the man wouldn't get upset.
"Really?" E'naer said incredulously. "You're in for a troubles," he
murmured, smile tugging his lips upwards. He took few steps backwards, to
give her room.
**Eillie, this one is for you.**
His green arrived. }: Hello, little one, :{ she greeted the hatchling.
"I'm afraid so," D'ret responded then grinned because that was exactly what
was wrong with Petrith. He was so very relieved that E'naer wasn't angry.
The little green was pleased when the scary man with the weird face stepped
back then blinked in surprise as someone spoke. She swung her head around
to see who it was but wasn't about to let go of D'ret. }: Hello ... :{ she
squeaked back.
}: Why are you so afraid? :{ Eillispeth inquired the hatchling. }: He's
gentlest man on Pern. Besides, you're dragon, a largest beast on Pern with
ability to to fly, go where ever in a blink and breath flame. What there's
to be fraid of? Nothing but Thread can hurt you. :{
** I'm not sure mentioning Thread will help,** E'naer cautioned his dragon,
listenin in Eillie's speaking to Petrith.
}: It's so scary here. Everyone's so big and ... I'm not big! :{ she
scoffed at the thought that she would be anything other than what she was.
}: THREAD?! :{ she squeaked, eyes immediately going to E'naer and she
crouched a little. }: Is that why Yours ... :{
"Yes, Petrith," D'ret interrupted, not wanting her to say something that
would upset the man or his dragon.
Petrith blinked sleepily up at the other green. }: I'll be big like you?
:{ she asked then yawned, her grip around his legs loosening. When she
looked up at D'ret, his heart melted. }: You'll always be with me? :{
"Always, sweetling. Come on," he said softly then looked at E'naer.
"Thank you sir ... and thank Eillispeth."
"You're welcome, this is why we are here," E'naer replied.
