Description: The two dragonhealers consult on a case or do they?
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr, River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 2, day 20 of Turn 7
Notes: Mentioned: Sasima, Briata
W'ser grabbed a few of his note ledgers, some hides, and a stylus and
tucked them into his leather satchel, along with a few of his
instruments. It wasn't often that he left the Weyr, usually only to
meet with his long friend, and fellow Weyrdragonhealer, Y'gel. The two
frequently consulted one another and often met just to catch up.
Sometimes W'ser felt as though no one related to the position that he
was put in as a dragonrider and as a healer. Dragons were made to
fight Thread, and yet, he spent his time on the ground healing
dragons. The two feelings often warred against one another. It was not
something a regular dragonrider could understand.
Today W'ser was going to consult with Y'gel on a case at River Bluff.
W'ser was excited to see his friend again and eagerly packed his
things, strapped into his riding harness atop Branth, and left for the
other Weyr.
Y'gel stood by the side of injured brown when Aughashyth announced the
arrival of Branth and his. "W'ser," he smiled and walked out of the
cavern to watch the pair spiral into the bowl.
"Welcome to the tropics," he spread his arms with a smile.
W'ser smiled at the older dragonhealer as he shrugged out of his
riding jacket and began rolling the sleeves of his tunic up past his
forearms.
"How you live in such temperatures I will never know." He laughed as
he have Branth a thump on his flank, slung his satchel over his
shoulder, and walked over to Y'gel.
"It's cool inside," he grinned. "Good to see you my friend," he said
and led the way inside the big cavern.
W'ser left his riding jacket attached to Branth's riding straps as he
followed Y'gel inside. The Dragonsfall Weyrdragonhealer always enjoyed
seeing how other Weyrs set up their infirmary.
"I trust things have been well here." He commented.
"Well enough with Tread still in the skies," Y'gel shook his head.
"How about at Dragonsfall?"
"Just the usual." He said, "Not that I am complaining about that."
W'ser enjoyed his studies and training dragon healers more than
watching dragons die.
Y'gel grinned at his friend. "Enough small talk," he chuckled. "Tell
me about this lady who has the perennial loner tied in knots!"
W'ser grinned at just the mention of Sasima, "I can't believe you know
about that." He shook his head, gossip really did travel, "I don't
know what to tell you other than I have never met anyone like her."
"Good news travels fast," Y'gel twinkled at his friend. "Besides
weren't you one of the first to congratulate me on my new son and
weyrmate?" The fair Briata had become very important to him and he was
hoping his friend had found the same.
"Yes well," the corner's of W'ser's mouth twitched up into a smile
that he could not hide, "I plan on asking her to be my weyrmate soon.
I had never really planned on making such a commitment in my lifetime,
but being with Sasima makes me feel... possessive." He chuckled.
"Well, well, well," said the bronzerider. "Imagine that, there is a
woman on the face of Pern that may keep your attention more than a
candlemark?"
W'ser barked out a laugh, "You make me sound like a cad, man! Can I
help it that everyone before Sasima was so utterly boring?" The
dragohealer shook his head.
Y'gel laughed and shook his head. "Not a cad by any means, you always
treated your women well. Just lost interest quickly. How long have you
known this one?"
The Dragonsfall dragonhealer lifted his shoulders in a shrug, "A
handful of months I suppose. I knew of her before that, but only in
passing." W'ser thought back to the day that they had met intimately
for the first time.... Shaking his head, the brownrider waved his
hand, "Any way, my love life is not why I am here. I think we have a
dragon to discuss?"
"Alright," Y'gel clapped his friend on the back and headed back into
the cavern. "What I've got is an unexplained shoulder pain in the
right wing..."
