Lady Yanley

Yanley
Sasima

Sasima

So a Lady of the Blood had arrived at the Weyr and Sasima had been
assigned to help her get settled. Of course she'd pretty much directed
the young brownrider and the other staff to the storage room D'ale had
requested for her things. So, she knew where everything was.

Now it was time to present herself to the lady and see what needed to
be done with it all. She doubted Lady Yanley would remember her at
all. She'd been only a minor drudge amongst many at Amber Hills after
the earthquake had devastated Amethyst Cliff, and Yanley only a
sometimes visitor to her childhood home.

She knocked on the Wingsecond's door instead of just walking in to
clean as usual.

"Enter, please," Yanley called bit hesitantly. She was not quite yet
at home at D'ale's weyr and felt like intruder. It would take a while
to get used to it. She was standing middle of the room, absently
kneading her lower back, wondering how much she dared to change the
place. D'ale's taste in furniture was rather...bachelor
style...comfortable and old. Some of the stuffed chairs were
practically threadbare.

"Welcome to Dragonsfall," she said as she entered. "I'm Sasima." A
friendly smile lit her eyes as she could see the other woman was
getting pretty far along. "When are you due?"

"Thank you. A month left," Yanley said with a smile of her own. "So,
you're here to help me?"

"That I am," Sasima continuing her friendly smile. She knew how hard
it had been for her when she'd first come to the Weyr and didn't know
where everything was or even how to act. "So," she rubbed her hands
together. "Where would you like to start?"

"Now, that's the hard question," Yanley replied and looked around.
"Maybe these chairs. They need replacing. A good carpenter might be
able to restore them," she said, sounding doubtful. "Or they're just
fit for firewood."

"They'll go to someone in the lower caverns," she said softly. Though
they were rather large chairs one of the drudges would be overjoyed to
have such a comfortable chair in their quarters. Personally she'd just
cover it with a throw and it would be wonderful. "K'ale told me you'll
have more things arriving on the next tythe train?"

"Well, they are solidly built," Yanley amended. "Yes, the larger
items," Yanley replied the question. "Let's see what I need first...a
wardrope or two large clothes chests.. crib or craddle for the baby as
well as drawer or chest for baby things." She pursed her lips
thoughtfully. She knew men well enough to know not to overhaul whole
weyr. She would leave a part of the weyr untouched, expect for some
rearranging, a sanctuary for D'ale, his own space. "The bare cliff
walls needs something to soften them.. I think we need few sturdy boys
to move furniture around for us."

"Yes," Sasima smiled. "I thought we probably would need some help."
She turned back to the door and summoned the two drudges she'd brought
with her. They weren't the sharpest knives in the drawer but they did
work hard. She directed them to remove the two chairs.

"There are some of the items you might be thinking of in a storage
room just down the passageway. Would you like to take a look?"

"Well, you're certainly well prepared, I like that," Yanley laughed
when she saw the drudges.

"I would love to," she replied to Sasima's question. "Show the way."

"I try to be," Sasima grinned. "But life continues to surprise me from
time to time. This way," she said and led the way down the hall.
Pulling a key from her belt pouch that she'd been given for this task,
she unlocked the door and held it open.

Yanley followed and her eyes lit up when she saw the store. "This is
almost as fun as shopping at the Gather." Her flits swooped in, having
been exploring their own. Thi landed on a drawer, which draw her
attention to it. She moved closer to inspect the furniture. "Oh, this
I want," she run her fingers along the dark wood. She liked the
engraved dragons on it.

Sasima chuckled and followed Yanley. She nodded at the choice and
signaled the drudges to move it to the Wingseconds weyr. "There is a
cradle over here that is of the same wood I think." She led the way
into the side wing of the room and lifted a couple of tapestries away
to reveal the item.

"Oh, yes, it's lovely," Yanley kneeled to inspect and blew some dust
off it's surface. "Hasn't been used a while."

"No it hasn't," she smiled. "I think it was a gold riders awhile back
but that was a long time ago."

"Well, the baby will have good company then," Yanley said.

"Sure will," Sasima replied with a grin thinking the Lady was going to
fit in just fine here. Dilily popped in with a chirp and landed on her
person then her head tilted and eyes whirled curiously at the other
two flits.
