Description: A party is held at the tavern in the Weyrwoman's honor.
Location: Vintner Hall
Date: month 3, day 8 of Turn 7
When her Wingsecond had offered to take her to the Tavern for her
birthingday, Rhosyn had been more than a little surprised. Of course,
she couldn't drink in her current state, but she was willing to go
anyway and eat and maybe have some of those nice fruit drinks she
heard they had. As it was, it would be good to get out of the Weyr. So
she rode with Lenala over there and slowly got down.
Of course, she didn't see the dragons that were already there, sunning
near the Hold since Orlaith wasn't there to mention the fact.
Lenala had a hard time to keep a straight face and not chuckle with
anticipation and excitement. This was her idea, a surprise party for
Rhosyn. She had planned and organized it. She hadn't done_all_ work
herself. The benefit of a rank was the ability to delegate. She had
also invited people from other Weyrs, people she knew were Rhosyn's
friends.
"Happy Birthday!" R'enh cheered with the others in the room. A big
cheeky grin at the expression on her face.
N'vanik's grin wasn't as wide, but his eyes were warm. "Happy
birthingday." Thank Faranth Lenala had asked him to come, or he would
have forgotten it was Rhosyn's birthingday. He almost forgot his own
most turns.
Coming in some time after N'vanik and carefully avoiding his Weyrleader,
Z'an strode in with a mischievous smile and snuck up beside Rhosyn to peck
her cheek. "Happy birthingday."
Last, but not least, K'sedel arrived. "I see the party has already started,"
he said with a grin.
Ciara wasn't far behind him with a big smile for the Weyrwoman. "Happy
birthingday," she added to all the rest of the good wishes.
Seeing them all had given her a bit of a shock since it truly had been
a surprise. Of all people, she hadn't expected something like this to
come from Lenala. Of course it had to have been her probably. Turning
to look at the other goldrider, she allowed Z'an to kiss her before
she looked over the attendees and saw so many familiar faces. "Thanks
everyone!" A smile crossed her cheeks before she turned to her Second.
"And thank you. I..needed this."
And then she turned back to the rest of them. "Allright some kinda
juicy thing for me and wine for everyone else. Let's have a party!"
Gelira was pleased to have been invited to the party. She'd been the
Weyrwoman's personal aide during her recovery, but she hadn't expected
to be included in what she felt was her inner circle of friends. She
hadn't wanted to intrude as the other guests greeted Rhosyn. She'd
spent most of her time just watching the others around her. She waited
for her chance to share her own well wishes with Rhosyn.
When a server arrived with drinks, N'vanik grabbed the glass of mixed
juice and handed it to Rhosyn himself. He was feeling a bit
possessive. "Here you go. How's the little one doing?"
Briata was one of the later ones to arrive, but she was just happy she
had made it. She slipped in, Brigel upon her back. Indeed, it was the
child who had held her up and his desire to eat trumped party. Despite
that, she had finally made it and slipped to the edge of the small crowd
that had gathered to celebrate their Weyrwoman's happy day.
Y'gel came in right behind her with a big smile. He didn't mind
waiting for Briata. She was the best mother he could have wished for
his son. His hand went to the small of her back below where his son
rested and guided her to a booth near the action.
"Happy birthday, Rhosyn," U'das said his congratulations for the Weyrwoman.
A'shel was too tongue-tied to actually say anything to Rhosyn but he lifted
his glass when she thought she might be looking his way. He owed her so
much.
Z'an zeroed in on Gelira immediately and after winking playfully at
Rhosyn, tiptoed towards the young woman and wrapped a friendly arm
around her waist. "Hey you."
Y'gel didn't miss the way the young rider sidled up to his daughter
and his eyes narrowed.
Seeing Z'an disappear after N'vanik got closer, she chuckled under her
breath. Giving her Weyrleader and her wingrider a quick smile and a
thank you for coming, she turned to the bronzerider she'd been wanting
to see. She took the juice and sipped before saying anything. "I'm
flying again-for now. Everything's okay though I'm slowly growing out
of my clothes." Frowning, she looked down at the reminder of that.
"One thing though-Lenala has been helpful. Really."
"Good. You need to take it easy, even if it might drive you crazy."
N'vanik wished for about the hundredth time that he lived closer so he
could help out.
Puwul was quite happy to see Tavern so full of people. Lenala had
reserved the whole Tavern for only them but he was still making a good
sales. Dragonriders tended to drink freely and didn't spurn the foods
his wife had prepared either.
Lenala was circling around the crowd, making sure everyone had a good
time and generally socializing with people. Now_this_ was the thing
she was good at.
Gelira gave a slight start at someone's touch then instantly relaxed
when she realized who it was. "Hi Z'an." Just having him near her made
her feel more comfortable amidst all the hob-knobing going on. "I'm
glad you're here."
"If I missed it, Rhosyn would never let me hear the end of it. " He winked
playfully and then paused, gesturing over to Y'gel. "Uhm...can you tell me
why that rider over there is glaring daggers at me?" He glanced down at her
and whispered playfully in her ear. "You didn't tell me I had competition."
She wasn't exactly relaxing, but she didn't tell him that. Reeva said
the time would come soon enough when she wouldn't be able to do much.
Instead, Rhosyn grabbed his hand and then began to mingle. There was
food and she wanted some.
