D'ale

D'ale
Lady Yanley

Yanley

He wasn't quite sure what he was going to find when he got home but
D'ale decided to stop at the public bathing pools before going back to
his weyr and his Lady. He didn't want to smell like someone else when
he arrived home.

"Yanley," he called softly as he opening the door. "Are you hungry?"

"D'ale, in here," Yanley replied, she was just changing the baby to
dry nappies. "No, I ate already."

He came into the room where she was with the baby and smiled at the
sight. Putting an arm around her he kissed her temple and smiled down
at the little guy. "Want me to finish that up so you can rest?"

"Sure. Where were you, I waited you home long ago?" Yanley's question
was completely innocent.

He put out a hand to take over putting the fresh cloth on the tiny
guy."I'm sorry," he said. "There was a flight." He tried to say it as
casually as possible. He was pretty certain she'd know what he meant.
He'd explained it to her so she had to know it would happen at some
point. Thankfully it hadn't started when he was right there with her.
But then again, this was the first one Torerath had won since she'd
arrived to stay at Dragonsfall.

"Oh. Did it go well?" Yanley wasn't sure what the protocol was in a
situation like this.

"Torerath won," he said simply.

"Oh," She had been Weyr long enough to know what it meant.
"Congratulations." She kept her voice carefully neutral. She did had a
nasty flashback, thinking of Golansin. He had never even tried to hide
his mistresses from her. She appreciated honesty but know the man you
loved has just been with another woman _hurt_. She was too much Lady
of Blood to let it show though.

"The congratulations should go to Torerath," he said softly then
picked up Daley and gently placed him in his mother's arms.
"Sweetheart," he murmured. "The dragons decide, the rider complies. I
came home as soon as I woke."

"I know, I don't blame you for it," Yanley replied. She decided to be
honest too. "It still hurts to know that man I love has been with
another woman. Even if you had no choice."

"I'm sorry," he said reflexively apologizing even though he really
didn't have a choice. He really was sorry that it hurt her even though
he'd never tried to be monogamous before. Not even when he'd
previously weyrmated. He didn't want to point out to her that the
greenrider _could_ have been a man, though in this case it had been a
lovely young woman.

He reached out and gathered them both into his arms. "I love you," he
kissed the side of her head. D'ale loved to kiss her right there at
the corner of her beautiful eye. He knew it was too soon for her but
he did want her and needed her to know that.

"I love you too," Yanley said and leaned her head against his chest.
"I'm not ready for actual intercourse yet, but I could manage bit of a
cuddling," she suggested. "Especially since Daley seems to have gone
asleep."

He smiled down at her and kissed the top of her head. "I'd like that,"
he said softly and let her go to put the baby in his wee bed. Then he
sat on the bed and patted his knee. "Come here love."

Yanley came and tried to hide the wince when she sat down to his knee.
The stitches had been removed about sevenday ago, but she was still
sore down there.

D'ale pulled her to him certain there was no trace of the other woman
on him. He just held her gently for a moment before he lifted her face
and deposited a soft kiss on her lips.

Yanley replied to the kiss. She didn't want to lose D'ale and would
simply look the other way if he had other women. After all, she had
practiced it with Golansin. Her former husband hadn't actually kept
his dalliances secret.

He could feel a certain reserve so he didn't deepen the kiss. D'ale
was going slowly knowing this was difficult for her both physically
and mentally at the moment. Instead he just held her and stroked her
hair. "You're a wonderful mother Yanley, Daley is a lucky boy."

"And I'm a lucky woman to have both of you," she said with gentle
determination. She was not going to lose him because her own actions.
She had chosen her path and would follow it to the end. She was weyr's
woman now and would learn to live like one.

"We're both lucky." He held her gently a moment longer and then laid
down and curved himself around her fully clothed. "Just let me hold
you for a few minutes if our son cooperates."

"Of course," Yanley replied, resting her cheek against his chest. Her
fingers curled around his tunic's fabric, almost like they were
saying: mine.
