Description: Naevyn finally lets her hair down.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 5, day 28 of Turn 7
Naevyn's eyes searched the room shyly. This was a really bad idea, why
had she agreed to this anyway? Oh yes, Eslith had made her. Finally,
she spotted her wingmate in the crowd and fought her way over to
Aishara. "Hi," she said softly, almost inaudible over the ruckus of
the party.
"Hello, Naevyn," Aishare greeted with warm, friendly voice. After all
they were wing mates.
"Hi," Naevyn said, blushing furiously when she realised that she was
repeating herself. "Sorry, um, anyway, I'm glad you asked me to come."
It had been a casual invite, but to Naevyn it had meant something to
be asked.
"You need to go out and socialize more," Aishara said kindly. "So,
what do you like to have? Beer, wine, something stronger?"
"Uhm," Naevyn hesitated. She never drank. But she wanted to try and
fit in, she had promised Eslith. The young green provided the final
nudge and before she knew it she replied with a "Wine please, thank
you."
"All right," Aishara said. Her hesitation told her she had not much
experience, so she picked up a sweet white wine for Naevyn. "Here you
are," she offered the glass.
"Thanks," Naevyn smiled shyly, taking the glass. After another moment
of hesitation she took a sip. To her inexperienced taste buds the
alcohol tasted quite strong, but the sweetness of the wine was enough
to make up for that. This wasn't too bad! "This is a nice wine," she
replied softly, hoping not to sound too foolish.
"It is," Aishara grinned. "Be careful though, it can be deceptive."
"Evening, ladies!" Z'an strode up, A mug of beer in his hands and a
wide smile on his face.
"Z'an," Aishare greeted him with a nod.
Naevyn took another sip, this time letting it swirl in her mouth
before swallowing. She could get used to this. When Z'an came up, she
gave him a shy little wave. "Hello," she murmured.
He sat down beside them in a chair and saluted them both with his mug.
"And how are you lovely ladies doing this evening?"
"Just fine," Aishara smiled. "Cookie?" she passed a plate around.
Z'an picked up a cookie and then another, offering one to Naevyn.
Naevyn accepted the cookie, nibbling on it as she gazed from Aishara
to Z'an. When a crumble seemed to lodge in her throat, she took a big
gulp of the wine in reflex. After some coughing, she downed the last
of her glass.
"Don't choke," Aishara said. "I was never that good in first aid," she
continued.
"Does anybody know any new, juicy gossip?"
Naevyn felt a little giggle escape her lips at that comment. When
Aishara asked for gossip, though, she shook her head. "Hmm, sorry, I'm
not your best source, I think." After looking at her empty glass for a
moment, she rose from her seat. "Be right back."
Z'an calmly took the empty glass. "I'll get it. Go ahead and sit." He
winked at Aishara and rose. "I don't pay attention to rumors. Faranth
knows there's plenty flying around about me." He blew her a kiss, left
briefly and brought back an entire wine skin. "Now, we can just sit
back and not worry about refills, hm?"
"Good idea," Naevyn replied as she took the skin to pour herself
another glass. "Now, do you have any good gossip for us then,
Aishara?" She was amazed at her own boldness, realising suddenly that
there might be truth to the stories of wine loosening your tongue.
"Well, I'm sure you're already heard this one..." Aishara started and
launched into a story of candidate's mishap.
Z'an's gaze went back and forth between Aishara and Naevyn. It did
appear that the shy young woman was loosening up. As he listened, he
chuckled along with Aishara, his eyes warm. "You can't tell me that
neither of you had incidents as a candidate." He bent to whisper
conspiratorially. "I was the master of pranks."
"I was the master victim of pranks," Naevyn replied rather quickly,
without even blushing.
"And I was never a candidate, I Impressed from the Stands," Aishara
replied. She placed a comforting hand on Naevyn's arm. "I'm sorry to
hear that."
Z'an smiled. "Oh, I was never cruel. Mine were all with my friends. I
would never have done something to upset someone, especially a pretty
girl." He paused. "Unless it meant I had to give a kiss as an apology.
Then I was all for it."
Aishara rolled her eyes. "Good thing I wasn't candidate then."
Naevyn blushed slightly, but something in her eyes sparkled with
interest. The wine made even her thoughts more bold, she realised and
her eyes rested briefly on Z'an's, before she took another long sip.
He was a handsome man, if a bit old for her, perhaps.
Z'an gave a hearty laugh at Aishara. "Why? Would I have been kissing
you often?" He gave a mischevous wink and whispered loudly in Naevyn's
ear. "I think she's flirting with me. Quick! Hide the wine!"
"That's okay, I'll drink hers," Naevyn actually laughed out loud,
making a grab for the other woman's glass.
"Yes," Aishara replied to Z'an. She pulled her glass away from Naevyn.
"Drink your own wine, I can handle mine," she laughed.
Naevyn shrugged and took another sip from her own wine. "If I can't
have your wine, can I at least have your flirt?" It was out before she
knew it, but even though she blushed a bright red, she was glad she'd
said it. Wine was doing good things for her.
"Feel free," Aishara said and nudged her playfully towards Z'an. "I
already have a bronze rider who to pay my attention." Too bad he
wasn't at this party.
At Aishara's nudge, he laid his arm over Naevyn's shoulder and bent to
whisper into her ear. "You can have all of my flirt you like, pretty
lady."
Naevyn was blushing still, but instead of pulling away in
embarrassment like she usually would have, she leaned back into his
arm a little. "All?" she managed to ask coyly.
Aishara discreetly toasted at them. Naevyn looked like she could use
some loosening up and sometimes it was better to take the risk of
heart break than to be alone.
"Whenever you want it and however much you might like." He boldly
nuzzled her neck and kissed behind her ear.
"That is a generous offer." Naevyn felt her insides twist in delicious
nervousness. Why hadn't she tried this before, again? She sent a
silent thank you to her sleeping green.
At that point, Aishara decided to find some other company and quietly
left. She would leave them flirt without disturbances. A'rie seemed to
be all alone. She went to chat with him.
Still close to her ear, Z'an grinned. "Why don't you come with me and
we can see how much of my flirt you can handle?"
"Oh," Naevyn blushed deeper and quickly downed the last bit of wine
from her glass. "That sounds like a great plan," she said with only a
slightly nervous tinge in her voice. She hadn't been with a man
outside Eslith's flights but her first time. "Can we take the
wineskin?"
He caught her chin in his hand and tilted her head up. "We can, but it
might be more fun without it." His thumb stroked over her lower lip.
"We don't have to, you know. We can stay here. Whatever you want to
do."
"Oh, I want to," Naevyn said hastily. She glanced at the wineskin and
then shrugged and got up. "I'm just feeling a little silly from the
wine, I guess." She took his hand and gave him a little tug. He didn't
need to know she was a shy little lamb, after all.
He rose after her and at her tug, lifted her knuckles to his lips.
"Lead the way."
"My place, then?" Naevyn asked, as she moved away from the party. She
was a bit unsteady on her feet from the wine, but not overly so just
yet.
He looked down at her, smiled and then shook his head. "Lets go to
mine." He carefully scooped her up in his arms with a grin. She was a
tiny little thing and he barely felt her weight in his arms. No wonder
the small bit of wine had gotten to her head. He lightly kissed her
lips, smiled and gave a wink.
"Whoops," Naevyn laughed as she was literally swept off her feet.
"You're strong."
"And you, sweet lady, have probably had a little too much wine." It
didn't take long to reach his weyr, even carrying her. He shouldered
his door open, closed it with his foot behind him and laid her
carefully on his bed. He brushed a strand of hair from her brow. "I'll
probably kick myself later for saying this, but if you want to just
sleep, I'll understand. I don't want you waking up to regrets."
"Oh, no, no, no," Naevyn shook her head furiously. "Sleeping is for
old Naevyn. New Naevyn just has sex."
Did she really just say that?
Both brows rose. **New Naevyn?** He bent over her and brushed his lips
over hers. "Then show me this new Naevyn."
Naevyn met his lips with a passionate kiss, throwing herself into the
moment like she never had before.
