With the way Shalith had been flirting with practically every male in
the Weyr and with Cosani being even crankier than usual, she knew the
time was coming. After a long nap in the sun, Shalith woke with a cry
and cast her gaze around the Heights.

}:Who is worthy to catch me?:{ She stretched her wings wide and
bugled. Panitath had Risen yesterday and gotten all the attention, but
now it was time for _her_ to be adored by the males.

As a blue, Chaneth had no interests in gold flights - but a green
flight was one of his favorite activities. Shalith was large and
pretty, much nicer to his mind than the small slight greens. He
responded to her bugle with one of his own. }:I shall fly after you!:{

New to this Weyr and eager to prove himself despite everything, Leith
answered her call with a bugle of his own. The fast blue hurried to land
close to her, to get a look at her, and know what he was up against. A
Weyr might be different, but a green was a green.

Losing the goldflight had left Yumath with a desire to prove to
himself that he could indeed capture a female in flight and the little
Shalith was just the answer to his need. Crooning his intentions, he
spread his great wings to their widest, the bronze hide glittering in
the sun. }: I chase! :{

There was a tenor call shortly after as Vicarth lifted his head from
the water of the lake, emerging dripping, but interested in the little
green's display. He flicked the water droplets from his wings and
crouched, eager for Shalith to rise into the air. }: Rise, lovely
Shalith. Let me show you my worth.{

**Shalith** R'enh grinned and made his way toward the flight weyrs
when Mnoranth made his desire to chase the green known. Cosani was one
of his extra special interests and they both new Loseth would not be
there to compete for _this_ prize.

"_What_" L'cor thought. "But you're not recovered from the gold
flight" he said but Tonuth had already landed with the other males
around the green and begun his display. "Oh alright," he slumped and
marched down from his weyr. But all his protests fled when he saw the
rider. **She's very pretty,** he thought.

}: I am worthy, :{ Rahmuth declared and landed near the feeding pens.
Sh'dori dismounted. **At least she's not straight out of
weyrlinghood,** he grumbled. **Where are all experienced, seasoned
greenriders?**

}: I like young ones, :{ Rahmuth replied.

Camyth's blue hide shore brilliantly in the sun when he joined the
growing group of chasers.

X'ian had to leave his weyrmate rather abruptly when his blue declared
his intentions to chase.

Browns and even bronzes. Shalith was very pleased with the males who
had answered her call. }:Now you have to catch me!:{ She sprang into
the sky, wings carrying her high and fast.

Cosani hurried down to the flight rooms. Shalith hadn't been nice
enough to carry her down, but at least the green's delay had given her
enough time to get out to the Bowl. Some of the riders had beaten her
there and she smiled when she saw R'enh. Shalith had chosen his bronze
twice before and she hoped the green would choose him again.

Z'an and D'hol arrived at nearly the same time, Z'an giving way to his
Wingleader to enter the flightrooms first. D'hol strode in, taking his
place in the semi-circle, his eyes falling on Cosani with interest. Z'an
stood apart, his brows arching as he recognized the girl that had been
rather surly with him...interesting.

Yumath leapt into the air after Shalith, using his wider wingspan to gain
altitude quickly. He was followed just as quickly by brown Vicarth, who
crooned encouragement to her. }:Fly fast!:{

He wasn't as fast as some of the others because E'rae didn't know what to
think. Still, it wasn't as if he could turn Leith off. So the
bluerider entered the
room and looked around. He didn't know any of the faces except his Wingleader.
His hands were dusty and his body was sweaty.

His blue, on the other hand, was in prime gear. These bronzes and
browns didn't bother him because they could never outfly him. These
other blues didn't know him and couldn't even begin to fathom his
tricks. He had the advantage here-of surprise. Leith was good and it
also helped that all the bad things gave him the
impetus to make a good thing happen. So when Shalith was taking off,
he was launching himself too, like a dart. Snorting, he was actually
humming to himself as he flew fast and high. }:Shalith the lovely and
magnificent, if you choose me you will fly to new heights and learn
new things and realize that these Dolphin Cove dragons are boring:{ He
never said that to her, though, just to himself.

Mayfeth had been quite the confident blue dragon ever since winning
his first green flight and ever since he had been present in as many
green flights as possible. It was running S'avn ragged. He didn't know
the greenrider in the flight room but he was at least relieved to see
that the rider was a female. He _knew_ what to do with females.

Mayfeth echoed his rider's confidence as he called out to the lovely green.

Rahmuth launched after the glowing green. }: I will catch you and show
you how green should be flied, :{ he boasted. The experienced brown
was feeling confident.

Camyth was fast in the air, the blue trying to impress the green with
his speed.

Tonuth tried to take off as fast as the blues which of course didn't
happen but he rose on his wide wings and called to the glowing green

Mnoranth launched strongly with the other dragons and R'enh moved a
little closer to Cosani.

Cosani had learned to enjoy flights so there was no hesitation as her
mind joined with Shalith. Green wings beat the air as she climbed,
feeling powerful and free. }:Show me you deserve me. I will choose
only the best.:{ She darted down, coming dangerously close to the
nearest blues before twisting and shooting upward again.

Vicarth, well accustomed to green flights, followed Shalith as she
rose. His wide wings caught a thermal and he spun in the air, tail
whipping as he showed his own skills while still keeping a solid pace
behind her. }: Twine with me, lovely Shalith. I am all that you will
need. Will will fly high and fall together. :{

Meanwhile, Yumath let the sunlight dance upon his hide, showing his
mature health and musculature. }: I will give you a flight to
remember, Shalith. :{

Mayfeth paid no attention to the other male dragons in the pack, his
eyes were solely focused on Shalith as she rose, beautiful and
majestic into the air. He had flown one green already, and he wanted
Shalith to be his second! }:I will PROVE that I deserve you, my
sweet!:{ The blue crooned as he cavorted playfully in the air behind
her. It just wasn't in Mayfeth's nature to snarl and be rude about a
flight, he wanted to win (duh!) but he wanted to have fun too!

Chaneth took off after her and began flying high, long strokes of his
wings taking the air at a slow and steady place. He was confident
about his chances - more agile than the bronzes and browns, and his
massive size was impressive. He was older and experienced in the ways
of the greens, and hopes it would help. }:Choose me, Shalith the
lovely!:{ He waggled his wings so the light played across them as
emphasis.

She was so close! Leith had almost managed it and then she was gone.
No matter. Changing course, he put on more speed, distancing himself
from the larger dragons. The light played upon his blue hide, and he blended
in with the sky. He wasn't young but he wasn't as old as some either. He
was just right. And he knew greens. Grunting with his need for her, he flew
circles around some of the heavier dragons. Would it be enough?

Camyth noted the older blue and tried to mimic his actions. The young
blue was fast, probably fastest of the males but he also tired easily.

Rahmuth wasn't fast but he was strong, steady flier with lot of
stamina. While the young blue was tiring himself with acrobatics, the
seasoned brown conserved his strength. }; I can fly with for a long
time :{ he called her.

Tonuth flew strongly after the beautiful green hoping for her to turn
or twist her way into his path. He called to her praising her beauty.

Mnoranth had risen high in the clouds while Shalith toyed with the
blues and browns but now he dove down through them to attempt an
intercepting catch.

The bronze came very close. Shalith saw him just in time and moved out
of the way. She rumbled her amusement. }:Nice try, but _I_ am the one
who chooses!:{ Not even as fine a bronze as Mnoranth could take that
choice away from her. She considered the other males as she climbed
even higher. She was beginning to feel just a bit tired so she had to
pick soon, or another would take advantage as Mnoranth had tried to.
An unfamiliar blue caught her eye. He had not chased her before and he
flew very well.

Shalith wheeled again, but not to tease this time. }:Fly me well,:{
she said as she put herself directly in Leith's path.

That particular blue dragon did not have to be told twice. Claiming his prize,
he caught her and then let them both fall as they should. When it was time,
it was his strong wings that kept them colliding with the ground. Laying her
down like a precious package, he covered her with himself, content to wait
until they were both finished and ready to go back.

Somewhere in the back of his mind before Leith had taken over, E'rae
had wondered
if K'mai's words were coming back to haunt him. Still, when his dragon and
that green came together, he didn't hesitate. Just as Leith needed it,
so did he.
He didn't see Cosani. He didn't know her but it didn't matter. All
that mattered was
his hands on her as he sought what they both wanted.
