Location: Green Valley Hold
Date: month 5, day 20 of Turn 7

After speaking with Lord Corowal, they had traveled back to Green
Valley as fast as possible. Coran felt anxious to get back home and
talk to his father about the situation and then see to Arippa. Leaving
their runners with the stablehands, Coran had practically sprinted up
into the main foyer of the hold, straight into his father and Arippa.
"We came as soon as we heard." He wrapped his arms around Arippa and
then held her by her shoulders, "Are you okay?" Before she was given
time to answer he looked to his father, "What happened?" He looked
back at Arippa, "Tell me everything."
Relea was forgotten for the moment, and she supposed she couldn't
blame Coran. It was horrid news and surely such an event would be
foremost on her mind were she in his situation. She arrived a couple
of moments after him, hovering behind the healer as he spoke with his
family. She couldn't see what he was saying, but she had a feeling
she knew what questions were pouring from his mouth.
She couldn't help the tears that sprang into her eyes but dashed them
away with an impatient hand. "I hadn't seen him all day so I went to
his room." She shook her head. "There was blood everywhere but no sign
of Reven."
Coran didn't want to believe what he was hearing. When he had left
Green Valley everything had been fine, more than fine actually, as he
set out on his journey to marry Relea. With what felt like the snap of
his fingers Coran's entire world had tilted and was beginning to slide
downhill quickly. He focused on the words "no sign of Reven" as he
stepped back from Arippa and ran a hand over his face, trying to
steady his emotions.
"There was no body?"
Though there were no words, Coran's body language spoke mountains.
Relea drew closer and gentlye touched his arm, a silent indication
that she was there to support him however she could.
Arippa had hugged Coran hard but let him go and stepped closer to
Rellik who had been her mainstay through this entire thing. She just
shook her head and sighed. "That's why I don't believe he's dead. I
can't believe he's dead."
Dead? Relea was not a guard, she didn't now what was involved in
investigations. No body, but blood everywhere. So what could it
mean? Why would there be blood everywhere if Reven hadn't been
killed. Had it been someone else's?
It was Rendrall who spoke next, his deliberate, blunt manner very
similar to Reven's, "Where have you two been?"
Coran reached out and put an arm around Relea's shoulders, drawing her
against him, needing her support, "We went to Emerald Falls..." he
signed part of the words, turning his face so that Relea could see his
lips, "and got married."
Rendrall's eyebrows shot up into his hairline, "Without telling your
mother? She is going to snatch you bald, son." This was said lightly,
with a bit of humor as he came forward and hugged Coran, and then
hugged Relea as well to welcome her to the family, "Another beautiful
daughter." He said as he pulled back.
"Congratulations," Arippa said though she still didn't like the other
woman at least she was now safely married and that relieved her mind
somewhat. Her eyes smiled at Coran. "I'm very happy for you."
Coran gave his father's shoulder a squeeze and nodded his head at
Arippa's congratulations, "Thank you, sister. I only wish it came at a
better time." It was suppose to be a happy celebration for Coran and
Relea, but with things turned upside down at Green Valley, Coran
didn't know when he would feel like celebrating.
A hint of a smile curled the corners of Relea's lips, but the
expression didn't linger. Recent events were overshadowed any
happiness that might have come out of their quick union. After all
that eagerness, the news of what had happened to Reven soured any
further thoughts.
"Um, I'm sorry," Arippa said suddenly nauseous. "I think I need to lay
down. I will see you all at dinner." At the word dinner her stomach
rebelled and she clapped her hand over her mouth as she bolted from
the room.
Coran frowned at his sister-in-law's rapid departure. He chalked it up
to stress, knowing as a healer how it could wreak havoc on one's body.
His eyes turned back to his father, who clapped a hand on his
shoulder, "Don't worry, your mother and I are looking after Arippa in
Reven's.. absence. Once you two have settled in and cleaned up you
should join us for dinner tonight." Rendrall found it hard, mediating
between his feelings of loss for one son, and his feelings of joy for
the other.
"We'll see. It's been an eventful few days for us here lately." He
gave his new wife a reassuring squeeze. "Lord Corowal sent Zandan,
he's checking in with our guards and is going to begin actively
investigating Reven's disappearance."
"Good," Rendrall nodded, "I will go out and meet with him then and see
what we can get done."
As his father left, Coran turned and pressed a kiss to Relea's temple,
"Come on, I don't know about you but I could use a bath... With my
wife." He smiled.
