Location: Dragonsfall Weyr

N'call smiled as they approached the Weyr's newest gold pair.
"Congratulations Genna," he said with genuine warmth.
Genna felt slightly uncomfortable all of a sudden, self-conscious in
the dress she had picked out so eagerly for the occasion, as she
realized all of a sudden that tonight all eyes would be on her. "Thank
you, Sir," she replied demurely, taking courage from the gentle touch
of Lissath's sleeping mind. She could do this, she had been raised to
behave properly, after all.
There was actually line forming of people who wanted to congratulate
the newly Impressed. Yanley wanted to go and congratulate Genna, but
found herself waiting for her turn.
D'ale put a hand on Yanley's back as they waited and handed her a
drink. "You did say she's from Amber Hills right? Did you know her
very well?"
N'call noted the line forming to speak with their newest gold rider.
He leaned a little closer. "Let me know if you get tired of all this
and I'll take you out on the dancefloor for a spell," he smiled.
"Yes, she took part to my etiquette lessons, and while she's been here, I've
been watching over her," Yanley replied her mate.
G'nir pushed thru the crowd, using his rank. "Genna, congratulations. And
Lissath, Welcome," he said.
"Thank you, Sir," Genna returned the greeting politely. "On behalf of
Lissath too." She had never been face to face with the Weyrleader and it
made her even more nervous than she had been before he came.
"It's always a boon to have a new goldrider in to the Weyr," G'nir said with
a smooth bow.
This she knew! Genna curtsied politely. "I hope I can do the Weyr proud."
"Of course you will do," G'nir said assuringly and turned to Teseada.
"Congratulatiosn for you and Onnyth too. Well done, you made us all proud."
"We try," the Weyrwoman's second said. "As I'm sure these two will.
Congratulations Genna, I'm sure Lissath and the rest of their class will be
the pride of the Weyr."
"We will do all we can to live up to that expectation," Genna smiled a
little more sincerely as her eyes rested on Teseada. She would help her
through
this, wouldn't she? "I'm so proud to have impressed to Onnyth's daughter."
"And she'll be proud of you."
N'call just smiled as Teseada and Onnyth reaped all the attention and
congratulations even though Haloth had every bit as much to do with
the clutch and the resulting new riders as they had. There were times
he felt a bit invisible when escorting the gold rider. But that was
the way with gold riders. }:I am proud of my daughter mine:{ **so am
I** and he continued to smile.
Genna nodded, trusting in those words. "For now, my duties are the same as
any Weyrling, right?" All of a sudden she wondered if there were extra
lessons she was supposed to take part in.
"Until you reach the more specialised part of your training," Teseada said.
"Then you'll spend some time with myself or the Weyrwoman."
Yanley gave up at that point, there was just too many people around
Genna. She would catch up with her later and congratulate her at the
Feast. Besides Daley was starting to make a fuss.
"Alright, when about is that?" Genna felt like anything that could
prepare her for what was to come should be embraced.
She glanced at N'call as his face showed that expression that she
recognised as a rider talking to his dragon. "Could you tell Haloth
I'm very grateful to him too, Sir, for bringing Lissath into this
world?"
His smile grew and he nodded. "I will."
"Thank you, he is a handsome bronze for sure," Genna smiled, still
feeling a bit of that uncharacteristic shyness, though it was
lessening as she relaxed more. "So is Nirreth, Sir, did he father
Onnyth?" she turned to the Weyrleader.
"Alas, no. That happened before Nirreth and I returned here from the
North," G'nir answered.
"But Nirreth has sired many fine clutches," N'call nodded at the tall
Weyrleader. He was rather proud of Haloth's first gold flight win
resulting in a new queen for the Weyr. "I can only hope Haloth will do
as well." Haloth was of course very quick to assure him that was his
intention. "Well," he made another bow toward their newest gold rider.
"I know you have a long line of people waiting to congratulate you
Genna," he smiled.
Oh, so the Weyrleader came from up North? Genna made a note to herself to
ask him about it some day, it intrigued her. She returned the bow with a
curtsy and nodded, seeing the line kept on growing. "I think you might be
right," she grinned sheepishly. "We'll all meet again soon, I'm sure."
"Ma'am," G'nir bowed to her and noted her good manners with approval. "I
shall reserve a dance with you later."
With that he parted the company. He had Lords and Ladies to greet.
