Description: The greenrider meets the Weyr's new bluerider over a mug or three
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 6, day 9 of Turn 7
Notes: Mentioned: D'naz, K'mai, Bahji, K'lvin
F'aen had a cup of ale in one hand and his eye on the inhabitants of
the small tavern. Most of them were dragonriders since it was located
close enough to the Weyr that you could walk if you wanted the
exercise. Things in his life had spiraled out of control after D'naz
had broken off their relationship. F'aen had always been a very casual
lover, and D'naz had been the first man he had ever been truly serious
about....
**And look how that turned out.** He snorted into his cup of ale.
The greenrider looked up when a bluerider sat down at the stool beside
of him at the bar. They weren't in the same Wing but F'aen had seen
the new bluerider's face in the Dining Cavern before.
"Evening." He greeted with a slight raise of his cup.
E'rae nodded and put in his order for some ale of his own. Last time he'd
had
a drink, it hadn't gone so well so he was cautious of talking. Still,
saying hello couldn't do any harm. "E'rae, blue Leith."
"F'aen of green Scarleth. Nice to meet you." F'aen took another drink
of his ale. This new bluerider was certainly good looking enough but
he didn't put off the vibe of a man who was looking for a good time.
Not that it mattered too much, sometimes conversation was nice.
"You come here often?" His mug came and he started to drink. **Not bad**
F'aen nodded, "I have more recently, was injured pretty badly a while
back and without Wing duties this was a great place to pass the time."
He told the other man.
"Mmm...I got Scored pretty badly a long time ago." It seemed like so many
turns.
So much had happened since then. "Now I drink to forget."
The greenrider nodded in agreement before raising his glass, "Ditto,
my friend." F'aen took a healthy drink of the ale before setting the
mug back down on the glossy, wooden bar. He could barely even stand to
be in the Weyr at all most days. You would think with all of the
people that the Weyr held that he wouldn't see D'naz that often, but
as fate would have it, F'aen seemed to run into him all the time.
**Bastard, anyway. Leaving me while I was injured and recovering.**
**Friend? Well he seems like a nice greenrider even if he is young** E'rae
did miss having a guy to do things with. The loss of K'mai was worse than
losing
Bahji even. His best friend for so many turns.. "Did you Impress here?"
"I did a little more than a Turn ago. Seems like a whole lot longer." F'aen
wondered if his injury hadn't made it feel that way.
"Ah so you're one of the young ones." E'rae remembered when he was that
young. He was a lot happier then. "You're still learning a lot. It gets
easier and
harder as time goes by."
F'aen lifted his shoulders, "The injury wasn't entirely Scarleth's fault,
but either
way we ended up in a patch of Thread. My shoulders, back and thighs have the
scars to prove it." He shook his head. He could barely stand to look at them
most
days and generally dressed without looking.
"Mine was Leith's fault but just as much mine for not paying enough
attention to
him. It's...my back." One of those things. Every rider had a Score. E'rae
had almost
died though, but he didn't mention that fact. His dragon always felt guilt
when he
saw the memories.
"I spent a while in the infirmary," F'aen said, taking another drink, "and
then when I
was finally able to go home the man I had been seeing for months decided
that dating
another dragonrider was 'too hard' cause, you know, I might die or
something." He snorted.
It wasn't that he had an urge to one-up F'aen. E'rae didn't like sharing his
personal business.
Maybe it was the ale. Either way, it just came out. "The woman carrying my
child fell and lost
it. I took care of her and she left me for a wingleader." It got worse after
that, of course, but
E'rae just took another drink. It was hard being blue, a lowly blue.
F'aen made a sympathetic noise, "Relationships suck don't they? I have
promised myself
not to make that mistake again."
They hadn't really...before all of this. E'rae sighed and finished the mug.
"If you can be happy,
be happy. Just...don't trust others more than your dragon." That was
probably a good rule of thumb.
"Sounds like good advice from an experienced man." F'aen said.
"And now this man is going to bed," he announced, getting up from the bar.
"Good to meet you F'aen."
