Luneth followed her rider, tail dragging as she glanced rapidly from
side to side. Though she was growing bigger, she still refused to
leave Ninaine's side, even at a meeting with J'darin and even with the
chance that Hasaarth might be close by. Ninaine, still upset by
Luneth's actions and embarrassed at her own lack of control over her
little green glanced behind her to make sure that Luneth wasn't
lagging behind. **You will behave today.**
Luneth's voice was soft, pleading. }: I don't want him touching you. I
don't like it, Mine. I don't want him taking you away. :{
Again, Ninaine sighed. **I'm not going anywhere. He can't take me away
from you.**
}: But he said...:{
**_No_ , Luneth.**
The green whimpered and scurried up to press her head against Ninaine
as they came to the door. Ninaine relented and stroked her hand over
the green's head gently before tapping lightly at the door.
}:They are here.:{ Hasaarth offered, though J'darin surely knew who
was knocking. She was expected after all.
At the moment, his sleeves were rolled up and he was sorting through a
great number of hides on his desk. He had just realized that he had
left a few bloody marks when the knock came. Swearing, he said "Come
in!" sharper than he intended, laying down his quill to frown severely
at the scratched on his arm. "Stop bleeding!" He said to them, as if
they would listen.
Numbweed kept most of the pain away, but the bandage sometimes slipped
as he worked in his hides.
His office was in the corridors near his weyr, but Hasaarth could not
get inside to them and it had no ledge, so he was not present.
But he could be present in *mind* if needed.
Entering, Ninaine kept her back straight and hands folded with proper
decorum in front of her. Luneth slunk in, having to squeeze through
the door just to be able to fit. As Ninaine sat, she immediately
wrapped herself around the chair, making herself as small as possible
while still keeping close to her rider.
Ninaine looked at the slipping bandage and the blood and flushed in
embarrassment, lowering her eyes.
"Hello Ninaine, Luneth." He watched the dragonette contort herself to
fit. He offered them a smile.
"She will very very soon be too large to come with you into my office.
Another reason to start working with her sooner rather than later."
"I wanted to see you both about how we can help you and her to become
just a little bit more a part of the group, and to find a way to
extract you from one another without her over protectiveness
endangering herself and other dragons and people around her. We
started this discussion last night, and we saw that it can end
badly...." He paused. His voice was full of sympathy and caring,
though it was clear he was also not going to tolerate any further
misbehaving.
"Have you given any thought to how we can manage these things and
understanding why it might be a good idea?" He asked gently, hoping to
prod her without dangling the reminder of bleeding scratches too
awfully much in her face.
There was a great amount of embarrassed shame on Ninaine's face as she
swallowed and spoke softly. "I know she will be."
}: I go where you go. :{ Luneth reminded her rider plaintively. She
seemed to tighten the curl around Ninaine's chair.
**You're getting to big, Luneth.**
}: Then do not go where I can not. :{
**I'll have to.**
Luneth didn't reply but the feeling of disgruntled denial flashed
through their bond.
She looked up at J'darin as her fingers coiled in the material of her
skirts. "I understand why it has to be done."
He was silent for a moment, looking at her. His gaze softened
obviously as he watched her fingers coiling in her skirts. Still
clinging even to her skirt, when pants were going to quickly become
necessary. She couldn't fly in skirts. A soft, barely audible
sigh. He'd never had one quite like her to teach. What did he do?
How did he help her?
"Well, thats a start anyway. The battle starts with understanding. "
He glanced down at the green dragonette, who, at nearly a month old,
was not as little as she had been.
"Luneth, I care for you and your rider, and want only to help.
Please understand that while I speak with your rider, alright?" He
would have had Hasaarth talk to her, but he knew the bronze would
petrify her.
Still, he would use him if he had to, to make her mind.
He focused back on the young girl in front of him, who surely felt
more alone than even he felt at his worst.
"Ninaine, we are going to start very slowly. If you have no idea
how to start, which you may not, for frankly, I'm not even sure *I*
know how to start." He smiled, hoping to put her a little at ease.
"I do have a couple of ideas, though. For starters, I want you to
ask Luneth to stay on her couch in the barracks while you go outside.
Not far, but just outside the door. She might even still be able
to see you. And only for a few moments." He didn't give them a
chance to react just yet.
"You will do this every day, extending the time and distance from her
a little at a time. Eventually, the goal will be for you to come
here to my office without her, and all the way to the lake without
her. I do not want to put Hasaarth on her to make her stay, but I
will if I have to do it. We will also get a gold to make her mind
if you or Hasaarth cannot, but I know that you can do it. "
Stil not giving a chance, he finished by saying with feeling, "We are
_not_ doing this to try to hurt either one of you. We are doing it
only to help. I know it will be hard. I know it will hurt you
both. But we have very few choices, and in the end, it will be so
much entirely better for the health of you both. Physical but
especially emotional."
"Do you understand? Have you had any other ideas about how to help
teach her? And teach yourself?"
Luneth lifted her head as J'darin spoke. She understood him perfectly;
her eyes, now whirling more rapidly in increasing anxiety, left no
doubt on her feelings. Her tail wrapped firmly around the chair and
she spoke to J'darin directly. }: No. You can not make me leave Mine.
It is wrong. She is Mine. Not yours. Mine. You want to hurt us cause
I scratched you. :{ The voice started out as a higher pitched version
of Ninaine's only growing increasingly shrill as she continued. She
turned her gaze to Ninaine. }: Don't let him. I want you with me! You
have to stay with me! I don't want to be alone! :{
