Thayde

Thayde

Irabel rapped upon the door, then entered when given permission. She
was finalising a list of people and there was one person she had yet
to bespeak in regards to the trip. She poked her head in before the
rest of her followed, then shut the door behind her. "Master Thayde,
sorry to bother you."

Thayde swiveled around in his chair, wearing his usual pair of
swimming shorts and a loose tunic that he could pull off at a moment's
notice. Now that he was a Master, and officially the Hallsecond, he
had been afforded a nice little office, and by the dolphin infirmary
too, which had been his preference.

"Irabel," he smiled, "no bother. Have a seat."

Irabel accepted the proffered seat and automatically crossed her long
legs. "I had a question for you, sir." Aslvor was a good healer, but
they also needed a master. Whether or not Famell would allow his
Hallsecond to go was up to him, and he might question the need for two
healers, but Irabel wanted to at least give as broad a choice as
possible with people she had confidence in.

It was still weird being called 'sir' but Thayde supposed he would
have to get used to it, "I am all ears."

"Well, you know about this trip I've been organising for mapping the
weather, currents, and shore further East?" It wasn't a secret, and
certainly the masters were kept abreast of the project in more detail
than apprentices or even journeymen. "I was wondering if you would
consider joining us to oversee the project. We'll also need a healer
on the team."

Thayde was quiet for a moment as considered the offer. He had become
quite comfortable with his work in the infirmary but he did miss
getting out in the field as he had done at Jade Harbor. An exploration
trip sounded like a good way to take a break from his office chair as
well.

"Let me clear it with the Hallmaster, but go ahead and count me in."

"I have to give a list of those who are volunteering for this to
Master Famell, so he'll have to clear it regardless." Irabel had
planned to do that the very next day, but then the thought that Thayde
could be a useful member had dawned her, so she'd decided to see.
"We'll have a discussion on this and other details tomorrow."

Thayde imagined Famell would want to talk to him regardless of the
list, but to appease Irabel he merely nodded his head, "Who else is
planning on going?"

"Aslvor is on the list, as is if Gerun, Tesseract, and Boreon." In
all honesty, Irabel was grateful so many had been willing to go. "And
others. It's actually a fairly long list and some people won't be
chosen." Although he was a Master, Thayde could very well be one of
those left behind. It just all depended on how Famell saw things, and
they would have that discussion on the morrow.

Aslvor's name piqued Thayde's interest. He would like to see more of
the journeywoman but with his new duties as Hallsecond, and her own
duties as a journeywoman, they had not seen very much of each other in
a while. It would be nice if they could both go on the trip.

"It is a good opportunity for some of the younger journeymen to get
some experience." Thayde said, which meant that he was sure there
would be some of them on the trip. They needed to learn about
exploration projects."

"There are several who have expressed interest and I've added to the
list. I'm not going to exclude someone just because they're younger.
If they're a hard worker, then I think they should be considered."
Aslvor may not be as experienced, but she was competent. It might be
good to even have more than one healer, one younger, one older.

Thayde was a little confused for a moment. Did Irabel think he was of
the mind that the younger dolphineers shouldn't go? He never knew how
to take Irabel when they had conversations. The woman was a bit more
uptight and severe than what he normally dealt with in the
dolphincraft.

"Indeed." He murmured in agreement, "Well then, if that is all I will
see you at the meeting tomorrow."

"Of course." Irabel rose and managed a small smile. "Thank you for
considering this.

"Have a good evening, Irabel."
