Description: Genna brings her and Teseada's plan to J'darin.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 7, day 21 of Turn 7
Notes: Mentioned: Ninaine, Teseada
Notes: WAY backdated due to LOA's from both sides!
After her talk with Teseada, Genna felt quite encouraged. Maybe she could
help that stubborn little 'miss Lady Holder' after all, whether she wanted
to or not. Not that she could ever admit to Ninaine this had been her idea,
but still it made her a better person for it, right?
So, as promised, Genna hung around after class that next day and approached
J'darin with a tentative smile. "Sir, do you have a moment?"
It would be a wonderful change to talk to Genna, who despite her Lissath's
tendency to be bossy, was shaping up into a very fine weyrling, instead of
dealing with more headaches from the _rest_ of this class.
J'darin smiled warmly at the young woman and nodded. "Well of course,
Genna. I would love to talk to you. You and Lissath are coming along
nicely, though I find her personality.... interesting." He winked at her.
"You will always have to be on your toes with that one!"
"Why don't you come to my office? I've got about a candlemark?"
"Oh, I won't need a candlemark," Genna said quickly, but she followed
J'darin to his office anyway. It wouldn't do if anyone overheard what she
had to say.
J'darin smiled and led the way taking a seat. He waved her into one of the
empty chairs at his desk and looked at her with interest. "Everything
alright with Lissath, Genna? Hasaarth would have said something, but just
making sure? Was there something in particular you wanted to chat about?
You and Lissath are doing so great in your classes. I'm so proud of you
both." He smiled again.
"Thank you sir, that means a lot to me," Genna beamed. She was surely going
to rub Lissath's nose in that later. The gold always seemed to think she
should do better.
"And no, it's not about Lissath. But I went to see Teseada yesterday. I'm
worried about Ninaine. I know you and the staff are doing everything you
can to help her, but I wanted to know if there was anything I could do to
help as well." She paused for a moment, suddenly realised it might sound
like she doubted the Weyrlingmaster and his staff. "We thought maybe
there's someone who can relate to what Ninaine's going through. Teseada has
a friend who impressed with her. She had trouble adjusting as well. We were
thinking maybe she could do a guest lecture and try to reach out to Ninaine
afterwards?"
J'darin sat back in his chair thoughtfully. It was easier coming from
Genna than it was an adult rider. He wasn't opposed to help, he just
wished that what he _was_ doing would have an effect. He considered her
suggestion for a long time before he finally nodded. "It isn't something I
haven't offered to her already - a greenrider who could understand her -
but if we bring it about in the way you suggest, it may work because she
will not think it was _my_ idea. That girl would leap off the rim if I
told her that staying on it was a good idea." He made a frustrated sound.
He was supposed to be her teacher, her influencer, and she wanted to
listen to everyone but him.
He turned the intense blue of his eyes to Genna, now considering _her_.
"That is very good Genna. A goldrider must care for every other dragon in
the Weyr along with her own. Its wonderful to see you taking
responsibility already. Thank you. We will try your suggestion."
"Thank you, sir," Genna said with a slight blush. That was the kind of
praise she'd been hoping for in a way. "I'm just trying to help."
"Very well done, Genna. Lets get this started, hmm?" He smiled at her.
Lissath had indeed chosen very well.
