Loseth catches Quinneth in her maiden flight, grabbing her away from Yumath. Then when Panitath rises, Loseth out-maneuvers Yumath again. D'hol doesn't take the loss well. Although he goes to Jeyme after the flight, she feels used and says some hurtful things. For a while, D'hol will barely speak to her.
Jeyme finds out she's pregnant and goes to Cyradis for advice. The timing means the baby might be N'vanik's. She tells D'hol and he makes her promise to cut N'vanik out of the baby's life. When N'vanik finds this out, he's not happy at all. He confronts D'hol about it but the man won't compromise.
Jeyme and Talryne strike up a friendship. They talk about the bronzeriders in their lives.
N'vanik and Cyradis spend some time together after the flight, strengthening their relationship. Cyradis's attempt to smooth things over with D'hol doesn't go too well.
N'vanik and Cyradis question Jenackt about his past. Later the Weyrleaders have a private conversation and N'vanik reveals some of his past.
Jenackt and Saidrene, overtaken by the gold flight, succumb to the lust. It's a bad experience for Saidrene and she goes crying to momma. Saibra comes up with an unusual plan to teach Jenackt how to treat a woman. She clears it with the Weyrleader. During their next lesson, she teaches the Candidate bedroom etiquette. They are both pleased he's a fast learner. The Weyrwoman Second asks him to keep things secret.
Using his new knowledge, Jenackt gives Saidrene a much better experience their second time together. He also makes a pair of kitchen drudges very happy. When Saidrene finds out, she's considerably less happy.
Qorri checks in with the Candidates. The Candidates have an awkward first aid class. Ciendra comes to say goodbye to Qorri. Meledei says goodbye and transports the former Headwoman to the Hold.
E'rae arrives from River Bluff. He meets the Weyrleader and his Wingleader and gets to know one of his wingmates. He meets Cosani after winning her flight.
R'enh is called to River Bluff to comfort Rhosyn. After Panitath's flight, R'enh seeks comfort of his own with Saibra.
T'nom and Pierka reconnect after he wins her flight. Jenackt apologizes to Pierka and they connect a bit. Z'ku helps Pierka wash Liddith. As her due date nears, he begins sleeping in her weyr in case she needs help.
When Meledei finds out T'nom stayed for a second round with Pierka, she's furious and the two break up.
Aishara and Z'an show Naevyn a good time and she goes home with the brownrider. When Varija sees them eating together, she has a fit in the middle of the dining hall.
Chaysea from the Vintner Hall comes to interview for the Headwoman position. The Weyrleaders bring her in temporarily, to see if she can handle the work and Weyrlife.
