N'vanik talks to Meledei about the possibility that the Clutch might be small. Meledei, frustrated, goes to talk to T'nom about it.
The Clutch is indeed small, only 16 eggs. Elleth has a hard time of it, a little minor bleeding giving her rider a scare. Pierka sees T'nom moping in the dining cavern and says she feels like punching him. He tells her to go ahead, and the action gets the attention of the Weyrleader, who warns T'nom to be nice to Pierka.
Meledei talks to Pierka about her pregnancy and the goldrider insists she'll be a part of the baby's life because it's T'nom's. That makes Pierka angry. When Meledei talks to T'nom about it, she tells him she thinks Pierka is in love with him.
Meledei and T'nom go out for some fun, but it turns into a fight when Meledei says they shouldn't get "worked up". T'nom has gotten used to physical intimacy and can't understand why Meledei wants to keep waiting. Hurt and upset, Meledei wonders if she made a mistake and writes a letter to Z'ku, apologizing. Z'ku writes back that the apology is not accepted.
Cyradis tells D'hol that Kielya is his daughter. The bronzerider doesn't take it well.
The Weyrleaders interview a number of goldriders and ultimately choose Saibra to be the new Weyrwoman's Second. Cyradis goes to inform Qorri so the Headwoman can prepare a weyr.
N'vanik has words with D'naz about how he left the Weyrling class after one of them was lost /between/. D'naz assures him that he will be stronger next time.
N'vanik talks to R'enh about Rhoysn's pregnancy. Talryne shares her concerns with Qorri.
Meridia designs a new jacket, hoping it will make a nice show piece. L'cor runs into Ciendra and they catch up. Naevyn tells the Headwoman about a leak in her weyr.
Z'ku and Pierka bond over their mutual heartbreak. They're fast becoming close friends. Pierka goes to Vandor and gets some advice about dealing with morning sickness.
The mysterious new arrival to the Weyr, Jenackt (going by a false name) is Searched by a blue dragon. He refuses, but N'vanik later talks him into it. Qorri is none too happy about having him as a new Candidate, and Jenackt is none too happy about the new rules he has to follow. Meledei give him a little friendly advice about girls. Cyradis also talks with Jenackt, trying to get an idea of what he's like.
The Clutch is certainly small, but there will be new dragonpairs soon! And welcome to Saibra, our newest goldrider!
