A holder insults Rhosyn at the Hatching Feast and throws wine on her. N'vanik ends up punching the man and Corowal plans on making an example out of the holder.
N'vanik checks on Meledei after her scoring. Meledei also gets a visit from Surryad. G'wen and Meledei exchange notes and plan a visit. Tiernan visits Meledei in the infirmary and also spends time with her at the Hatching Feast. Later he brings the goldrider flowers and games.
Jylanya meets K'hetah at the baths. At the Feast she gets some unwanted attention. Jylanya talks with Meledei about her difficulty with culture shock at the Weyr. Jylanya is considering becoming the Dolphin Hall Headwoman.
Talisian is also having some difficulty adjusting to the Weyr and C'jex gives him advice and an offer of help.
Janani congratulates T'aesh on his Impression. N'vanik chats with new weyrling X'ian and pays a visit to Daishii. Daishii gets patched up after her exciting Impression incident. T'nom and T'aesh share their amazement at finally becoming riders.
Meledei talks with Sh'del about helping with the Weyrlings while she recovers. Sh'del makes T'aesh one of the first group leaders and the young man is nervous about the responsibility. Meledei does her best to boost his confidence.
