Dolphin Cove has a new Weyrlingmaster Second, N'vanik's old friend Sh'del. Meledei chats about the Candidates with him, including Taeshin. Taeshin gets a talking to from the Weyrleader. Thankfully for the troubled Candidate, Janani lets Taeshin know he can Stand. Taeshin apologizes to Meledei for his past behavior and they try to patch up their friendship.
N'vanik admits to Janani he's been seeing Rhosyn, but he also promises to spend the night of the Hatching with his new Weyrwoman.
Sh'del discovers he has a cousin in Sh'dori and they have a bit of a family reunion. R'enh is meeting new people, including the Weyrwoman and Cortana. Meledei has lunch with her friends Z'ku and Tanom. Dysali and C'jex meet on the beach while training their canines and make plans to eat together. E'ril and Meledei chat while washing their dragons. Qorri is still after young men, and this time N'mor catches her attention.
Meledei gets scored in Fall and has visits from concerned friends including Tanom and Taeshin.
The big event this month is the Hatching. Many Candidates found their lifemates and became weyrlings, including T'aesh, X'ian, T'nom, Daishii, S'ryad and Pierka. X'ian is confused that Impressed a blue, but he puts his confusion aside to focus on his new lifemate. There was some concern with Pierka's memory loss, but she and her green seem to be off to a good start. T'aesh's Raisheth was well worth the wait. Daishii gets injured by her own green just before Impression.
Lots of dancing and chatting goes on at the Hatching feast. Rhosyn and Y'gel representing River Bluff, greet the Weyrleaders. Y'gel catches up a bit with Janani and N'vanik and Rhosyn share a few dances … and kisses. Rhosyn runs into R'enh and the old friends catch up a little. J'ren and Rhosyn also share a dance. Briata dances with J'lor, R'ehn and the Weyrleader.
