Physical Description of Persona:
Naika is not the sort of girl that men throw themselves at. For starters, her figure is far from the desirable hourglass, straying more into pear territory. She's far smaller up top than she would like to be, something that caused herself to be the subject of much teasing at the Harper Hall. Though she does have a nice round rear, it lacks toning, as does her stomach. These are things she hopes to resolve through her Candidate training... and hopefully some day Weyrling training.

Naika has chin length auburn hair, which has a loose curl to it naturally. It's frequently pulled back in some sort of half-runner tail, as she doesn't excel at maintaining it. Her facial features aren't the delicate feminine sort that attract wealthy sons of Lords, much to her father's chagrin. Her nose is a bit too large, her lips a bit too thin, and the general roundness of her face conceals her high cheekbones. When she smiles, her teeth are a bit snaggly, which can be cute given the right expression, but Naika doesn't want to be cute, she wants to be beautiful. She occasionally tries putting a bit of kohl about her eyes, or berry juice on her lips as she knows plenty of women use them to enhance their beauty, but she still hasn't gotten the application down quite right, and most of the time she just ends up looking like one of those entertainers with the painted faces from Gathers...

Emotional Description of Persona:
Naika is best described as brash and aggressive, two traits that tend not to serve girls well, particularly in the Hold. She isn't afraid to speak her mind, and she tends not to realize that there are some things most people don't share with others. She's often been called shameless, and she doesn't dispute that fact. She's also pretty adventurous, and will try nearly anything once.

It's often said that those who have the hardest exteriors are the ones with the softest interiors, and this is definitely the case with Naika. The reason that she doesn't care what other people think of her is because no one can be as hard on her as her parents were... or as she is. Those lucky few who have managed to get close to her find that they have a friend who will stick up for them no matter what. And woe be to anyone who tried to cross her friends, for she spent enough time wrestling with the boys at the Hold to have learned a few things...

History of Persona:
Naika was the only daughter born to Naitreon and Karyle who were minor holders. Her mother died in childbirth, and Naitreon blamed Naika for it, which resulted in a less-than-loving childhood. Naitreon was slow to wish to settle down again, for Karyle was his true love. As Naika didn't have a mother growing up, many "womanly" skills like fashion, sewing, and polite conversation. Naitreon had hoped to arrange a marriage between Naika and a Northern Lord Holder, but as she got older, it became clear that the only asset she brought to marriage negotiations was birthing hips.

When Naika approached her father to ask his permission to attend the Harper Hall as a student, he allowed her, largely because he hoped she'd be taught some manners there, along with possibly some skill with instruments. Instead, Naika fell in love with writing, as she saw it as a way to get out all the stories she had in her head. Shortly after she left for the Harper Hall, her father decided to marry again. Though he doesn't love Araletia, she bears a strong resemblance to his departed wife. Araletia has given him three children, all daughters, much to his chagrin. Naika hasn't visited her father much since she left for the Harper Hall, so it still feels weird to her when his letters reference her "sisters." She was beyond delighted when the Harper Hall began accepting female apprentices, and was ecstatic when she was given her Senior Apprentice knots a little over a turn ago.

More recently, dragons riding on Search came to the Harper Hall, and one of them believed that Naika would be a good candidate. She accepted the offer, and now lives at Dolphin Cove, where she awaits the Hatching.
