Physical Description of Persona:
Solis is a solidly-built man who stands around 6 feet tall. His skin is a rich shade of brown, his hair is black and tightly curled against his skull, and his eyes are dark brown. He wears a beard and mustache, which is starting to silver. His hands are big and slightly scarred from working.

Emotional Description of Persona:
First impressions of Solis can be forbidding. He's serious and always in motion, giving orders one moment and poring over pages of designs. His flashes of temper are legendary and known to terrify even grown journeymen into silence. He's also plain-spoken and straightforward to the point of rudeness.

Solis' primary traits are perseverance and practicality. He has a tendency to be a perfectionist, critical workaholic. He'll daydream about what-ifs and it-might-be-nice, but his primary focus is on knowing what he can achieve, and then putting his all into getting it done. He's known for being innovative and resourceful with with what he has at hand.

Solis learns best by being hands-on and doesn't like being idle, so he tends to always be in the middle of something. He's often viewed as humorless and strict because of his focus on efficiency. But Solis can cut loose and have fun, if you can pry him away from work. He has a quiet expressive warmth and encouragement that comes out in his interaction with younger people.

History of Persona:
Solis was born in Garnet Valley Hold to a carpenter and his wife. He was the middle child and the second son, the most serious and scholarly of the children. His brother became a guard, but Solis wanted to become a Crafter. Though the family was of limited means, the intervention of sympathetic elders allowed him to be sent to the Technicians on sponsorship.

Solis thrived in the energetic and creative environment of the Technicians Hall. He was known for being the first to wake up, the last to go to bed, and for devoting his restdays to the pursuit of his Craft. He achieved Journeyman rank easily and early and was well-regarded by his instructors, though less popular among his peers. A local holder girl named Zakaiha developed a crush on Solis while they were teenagers and pursued him until he could no longer remain oblivious to her feelings. Soon everyone around them knew of their attachment, and no one was surprised when they were wed shortly after his promotion to Journeyman.

As a journeyman, Solis preferred to take postings where he could do hands-on repair and study. He visited Holds with diverse power sources, such as Opal Cove, Sapphire Meadows, and Garnet Valley. In between these stints, he returned to the Hall for more coursework and to work on his specialization of power generation systems. When it came time to pursue his mastery, he worked on the team improving the electric system at Dream's End Weyr when that location was re-opened.

His time at the Weyr also marked a painful personal moment. Solis and his wife had been happily married for many Turns, but their relationship became strained after their elder son Impressed a blue dragon. She was appalled, he was proud, and the resulting conflict eventually led to their family breaking apart. Zakaiha moved back to Jade Harbor to be with her family, taking their youngest child Solaka with her, and the pair were granted a divorce.

He has spent the last few Turns at the main Technicians Hall, teaching senior apprentices and journeymen the advanced lessons in design. He put in a bid to lead the Dolphin Cove project when word reached the Hall that the Weyr planned an upgrade. After all, he has relevant experience for that type of project. And perhaps succeeding at this project will put Solis in line to be a Hallmaster candidate...
