Description: Thayde transfers Jalodwyn
Location: Dolphin Hall
Date: month 1, day 9 of Turn 10
When she received the summons to the Hallmaster's office, she silently packed her belongings, then made her way to the office to present herself.
"Have a seat," Thayde said to Jalodwyn, sitting coolly in his place behind the Hallmaster's desk. Any sympathy that he had once had for Jalodwyn, or any leftover childhood affections, had all been banished with her actions during fleet duty. "I trust you have already figured out why I called this meeting?"
She didn't sit, but stood in front of Thayde and his new desk with a stiff back and lifted chin. "It's obvious. You're getting me out of here and it if the way. You must be really relieved that you can do it yourself. But it doesn't change anything, _Hallmaster_. I'll still be the mother of your first child. "
"You will be a mother," he agreed, "but not to any child of mine. I suggest you take this time away from the Hall to consider the sort of conduct that being a proper mother to a child requires." Thayde met her eyes without flinching. "Before I assign you to a new location, do you have any preferences?" He tapped a finger on the paperwork on his desk.
"This child is yours, Thayde." She met his eyes stubbornly, but flushed at his thinly veiled insult. "You can deny it, but the child will know who you are." She looked away from him then, visible hurt on her face. Then she shrugged, a tear sliding down her cheek. "I guess I'll be going as far from you as possible. It doesn't matter what I want, does it? It never has. Just do what you want, Thayde."
The tear did not move him. "I just figured, being in a delicate condition, that you might want to be near the father or perhaps your family?"
Her cheeks flushed as her jaw set and she spoke through her teeth. "_You_ are the father." She took a deep breath, hands clenching to fists. My mother died last turn and my sister is farming up north with her husband. I don't have anyone else. So it doesn't matter. "
"Jade Harbor it is, then," Thayde said as he wrote the words onto the paper. It was the furthest posting from Dolphin Hall and, since he had served there for several Turns, he knew enough of the dolphincrafters there to check in on Jalodwyn, if he needed to.
She stiffened, but it was no worse than she was expecting. "Anything else? Hallmaster?"
"Safe travels," was all Thayde had to say before he bent his head to finish the paperwork for her transfer.
**You bastard. You utter, complete bastard.** Jalodwyn turned her face away, then strode out, surprisingly closing the door behind her with a quiet, final click instead of a slam.
