Dessa hadn't forgotten that she had promised to help to find out who A'be's father was. She had picked up a promising lead when visiting Topaz Sea Hold with Sh'dori, but due her goldrider training, she had been slow to track it further. She still hadn't abandoned the project even if progress had been a crawl and now she thought she had all the pieces of the puzzle collected. It was time to put it all together.
She had talked with A'be's mother few times, but the woman was stubbornly adamant. She had just said that she had wowed not to tell and she was still bound by that promise. That itself gave Dessa a clue. Dessa was half-blood herself, a daughter of illegitimate daughter…she knew how the minds of the members of the Blood worked. She had sent inquiries to various places. Being a goldrider did give her some clout, she had easier time to get answers than Sh'dori had.
When Dessa asked him to stop by, and bring passenger straps, A'be didn't give it a second thought. He considered her to be his friend. Uljath dropped him off to Santhiath's ledge. The gold moved a bit to make room for the blue and otherwise ignored them. She was looking very egg-heavy, A'be noted. She should Clutch very soon.
“Hi Dessa, you wanted to see me?” A'be greeted.
“Hi A'be, yes, take a seat. I believe I have something for you. Do you have time to visit two places?” Dessa replied with a cryptic little smile.
“I just finished today's drills. I have evening watch-shift, so I'm free 'till sundown,” A’be replied, now curious.
“You remember we started to investigate who your father is? Well, I think I've got a fairly good idea who he is. I just need final confirmation. My only regret is, it's taken this long,” Dessa started.
A'be stared at her, his heart seemingly skipping a beat. Did he dare to hope? Like any fatherless boy, he had always wanted to know who he was and had developed all kind of fantastical theories during his daydreams. “Regret? Faranth, Dessa, I know you've been super busy with all the goldrider stuff and training. I wouldn't blame you if you had dropped the whole subject.”
“Well, I didn't,” Dessa replied and told him what she had done and where her investigations had taken her. She wasn't giving out any names tho, not yet. “Now, there's couple of people to meet to get the final confirmation. First stop would be Dragonsfalls Weyr. You have to take me as passanger, since Santhiath is not in condition to leave the Weyr.”
“What Dragonsfalls Weyr has got to do with it?” A’be asked.
“You'll find out,” Dessa did love being mysterious. Maybe it was part of being a harper and musician, to give a good show.

G'nir was more than a bit puzzled. Why would the Dolphin Cove Weyr's youngest goldrider ask to see him? A Weyrlingmaster in another Weyr? He was even more puzzled when she arrived to his office with young bluerider.
“What brings me this honour?” He asked after the polite greetings had been exchanged and his visitors were seated. A'be's flit had followed him and was now curiously snooping around in G'nir's office.
“Well, this is going to be unusual and require a long explanation,” Dessa replied and then started to tell A'be's story.
G'nir listened patiently. “Ailbe,” he repeated when he heard A'be original name, it did ring a bell. He pressed his fingers together and kept listening until Dessa was finished. “And you believe I have something to do with his father's identity?” G'nir was choosing his words carefully. He was smart and a Lord Holder's son. He already had it figured out and Dessa could see it in his eyes.
Dessa flashed him her most charming smile. “You were at his Hatching. Why would a Weyrlingmaster attend a Hatching in another Weyr unless he had personal interest in one of the candidates?”
“I was there in behalf of someone else,” G'nir replied. He was thinking. Mostly he was thinking how much he could reveal. Dragonrider or not, he still felt he had obligations to his Blood.
