Description: Scarleth rises.
Location: Barrier Lake Weyr
Date: month 12, day 2 of Turn 10
The day was cool, but sunny, making the lake sparkling brilliantly, but not as brilliantly as Scarleth's sea green hide as she lounged on her weyrledge. Proddy didn't even touch the tip of the green's mood and behavior for the last sevenday. F'aen himself, normally evenly keeled, had been snappy and short with T'ner. So much so that F'aen was surprised the bluerider had a head left after all of the times F'aen had bitten it off in the past two days.
The mood was finally snapped when the green launched herself from her ledge and down into the feeding pens for a quick herdbeast or two.
}:Now, I rise!:{ Scarleth exclaimed in triumph, roaring at the skies as she soared above Barrier Lake.
T'ner was not sure whether to be relieved or not that Scarleth had been proddy. It was easy to blame F'aen's annoyance with him on that, but things like that did not just come out of nowhere. He had done his best to give F'aen space without withdrawing completely, but he obviously still had a long way to go when it came to learning the balance.
}:All will soon be as it should,:{ said Lehystrath. }:Who better to share the stage of the sky with the star of the show than the leading man?:{
The blue chased after her. He could not assume she would let him catch her. He had to be her equal in all things and surpass all the others auditioning for a place at her side.
Dagreth was eagerly in the skies, zooming up by Lehystrath in a quick burst of speed. This was a green that Dagreth was familiar with and had flown before. T'kala, who had been soaking in the bathing pools, dashed out of the water, sending it splashing everywhere on the stone floor as he wrapped a towel around his waist and took off for the flight room.
Scarleth spiraled through the air, hurtling along as white clouds whipped through her vision. She felt so free and light, so energetic! Who needed males anyway? It's not as if any of them were worthy of her....
Uuketh was the last dragon to join the small pack of males trailing behind Scarleth in the air. The brown wasn't as zippy as the blues, but he was handsome and large and _very_ smooth with the ladies.
H'riv was quite relieved that Uuketh had decided to chase. He didn't even care _who_ the green belonged to because the thought of releasing some tension was all that mattered.
Lehystrath could, of course, see the other chasers. But they did not matter. They were merely bit players. All that mattered was him and Scarleth, the lead roles. He sang to her as he chased after her, strove for her.
Scarleth liked to pretend she had a choice in being caught, but although she was a wily flier, she was quickly outpaced by one clever male indeed - Lehystrath.
When the inevitable happened and Scarleth was caught, Uuketh and H'riv turned away in frustration, although Hiv's was soothed by the arms of a flight moth.
On the ground, F'aen turned and launched himself into his weyrmate's arms, locking their mouths together.
T'ner happily and hungrily carried F'aen to bed. There was one act left to this play, and he was going to be a virtuoso.

As the heady fog of flight lust began to dissipate enough for F'aen to be aware of himself, what he became aware of was familiar arms wrapped around him. A familiar smell. A familiar rhythm of breathing.
Turning in the winner's arms, F'aen's smile was bright. "T'ner."
"Hey, beautiful." T'ner kissed F'aen sweetly. "You all right?" He was typically gentle by nature, and Lehystrath was more finesse than power, but flights could nonetheless be unintentionally rough.
"I'm perfect. I'm so glad it's you." F'aen had long ago become accustomed to waking up to strangers with mating flights, and while he wasn't terribly bothered by it, being able to share one with his weyrmate? Priceless.
T'ner could not help but be especially chuffed at hearing F'aen say so, even if he had gotten much better at handling the jealousy that once came with flights.
"I'm glad it's me, too. You're an amazing flier."
"We're not done flying yet," F'aen said, nipping at T'ner's bottom lip with his teeth. "I'm sorry I've been so crazy the last few days."
T'ner laughed mischievously and kissed F'aen back, then nibbled his ear.
"There's nothing to worry about," he said. He had a feeling this would more than make up for it, and he was simply glad that there had been an underlying cause that was not his fault.
As if he'd read T'ner's mind, F'aen said, "Oh, I'll be making up for it." The greenrider began kissing down T'ner's neck, his hands preparing the path down the bluerider's body that he was about to take. "I'll make up for it," kiss, "one bit," kiss, "of skin," kiss, "at a time." His eyes gleamed.
T'ner drew in a ragged breath and his eyes closed.
"Far be it from me to argue," he said. He opened them again and lifted his head to look into F'aen's.
"No arguing," F'aen agreed. "But you can you can certainly _praise_ and _encourage_." He winked before disappearing beneath the blankets.
"That, I can do."
