Description: Jeyme and Zaverin attend the completion ceremony.
Location: Barrier Lake Weyr
Date: month 2, day 7 of Turn 12
It was the day of the Barrier Lake completion celebration. Jeyme was excited for the festivities. it wasn't often she had the opportunity to dress up. Having grown up at Emerald Falls as a lady-in-waiting, there had been a time when she'd worn dresses daily. That had changed very quickly when she'd Impressed Quinneth.
Fond memories assailed her as she styled her chin-length hair, remembering when she'd had to cut the waist-long tresses after her first Threadfall. Now she couldn't imagine having long hair like that again, not when her short hair fit so well under a riding helmet.
The dress she wore today was by no means as conservative or fancy as what she'd worn at the Hold, but the amethyst color was vibrant, and the low neckline and cinched waist accentuated her shape.
When she heard footsteps behind her, her lips quirked into a smile.
Zaverin.
He was dressed in all black, except for the pop of amethyst on his cuffs. She had been surprised when he'd agreed to match with her, but then, he was continually surprising her.
"You look beautiful," he rasped, that almost-smile of his a ghost upon his lips.
"And you look handsome," she replied, sliding easily into his open arms.
"The heels are a nice touch," he said, glancing down the length of her.
She popped one leg as she leaned against him and whispered in his ear, "I'm not wearing anything under the dress either."
Zaverin's hand curled over her hip, squeezing lightly as he chuckled. "You're always full of surprises."
"I try to keep things interesting," she said, pressing her lips to his cheek. The smell of his aftershave was one of her favorite scents.

They stood together as Aydhan gave her speech, and as soon as it was over, they made for the dance floor.
"This place has come a long way," Jeyme marveled as they moved together to the music.
"Because of people like you. People who care for others, that's what makes a Weyr function."
"Says the healer," Jeyme laughed. "You help far more people than I do."
Zaverin's eyes met hers. There was such intensity in them that the look took her breath.
"No, Jeyme, you truly care about other people. You care what happens to them. You care about their feelings and their concerns. It's a unique trait."
Her ears felt hot from the praise, and her heart squeezed as he closed the distance between them and brushed his lips softly against hers.
They swayed to a stop as the music came to an end.
"Thank you, Jeyme," Zaverin murmured, again with that intense gaze of his.
"For what?" she whispered.
He stared at her. "For the dance," he winked. "If you'll excuse me for a moment?"
"Of course. I'm going to grab a glass of wine, would you like one?"
Zaverin shook his head. "You go ahead." He lifted her hand and pressed his lips to her knuckles. He looked at her as if memorizing her features before turning and striding through the crowd.
"Jeyme and Zaverin sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G, first comes - OOF!" H'riv wheezed as Jeyme's elbow dug into his solar plexus sharply.
"H'riv," she greeted with an arched eyebrow.
"Has anyone ever told you, you've a really bony elbow?" The brownrider rubbed his hand over his chest and stomach.
"Only silly people," Jeyme quipped back as she sashayed over to the refreshment table.
