Description: Indith rises for the first time
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 5, day 7 of Turn 12
V’tian felt it before he saw it. He'd _just_ left the lunchtime dining hall. Indith had been… distracted, all morning, and now, suddenly, she was…
He rounded a bend. Saw the glowing green hide. Stopped. Oh no.
}:Oh _yes_.:{ Indith purred.
}:Indith rises.:{ The words reached T’lin just before the dragonlust hit him. He made his apologies to his weyrmate and hurried out to the ledge. For V’tian’s sake, he hoped Calaroth won.
**Jays, Yalith, her rider is a kid.** S’yei grumbled as his blue snapped to attention when the lovely Indith began glowing.
}:You won’t care once we’re in the air,:{ Yalith replied, and honestly, what could S’yei say in return? It was true.
The bluerider looked around the table. “Sorry, guys. Yalith is chasing.”
“Likely story,” M’kar said as he tossed down his hand of cards in disgust.
S’yei flashed a toothy grin, but didn’t apologize as he left the dragonpoker table to find the flight room.
K'roan entered the flightroom, his eyes already betraying the matinglust that was a reflection of Hambreth's desire to catch the young green in flight. }:She will be mine.:{ The brown's voice in K'roan's head was forceful, confident. K'roan nodded, though his dragon could not see. He shrugged off his riding jacket, already feeling the heat of lust, and tossed it haphazardly in an empty corner before joining the growing crowd of riders.
Raveth loved a chase, and so did J’vek. The bluerider strolled into the flightroom as his dragon positioned himself on the cliffs above Indith. There were several familiar faces amongst the gathering chasers already and he nodded to K’roan even as he looked around for the greenrider. “She’s not here yet? He?” he asked almost casually.
R’lor was halfway to his office when he stopped and took a deep breath against the tide of dragonlust. He started to ask who it was, but as he turned he saw a familiar green, her hide glowing unmistakably. **Kularth, no. I’m three times his age, we just finished training them.**
Kularth’s will bore down on him and he shot a glare at his rider. }:That is not my problem. I want Indith. Your human concerns will not stop me.:{
**You’re terrible.** R’lor sighed and headed toward the flightroom.
Aeoluth's wandering attention caught O'rosin first, pulling him away from the taste of R'fayne's skin. He leaned back and unceremoniously bumped into the shelving unit behind him. The supplies rattled terrifyingly for a second, and he was both petrified of the strange noise echoing out into the corridor and having things clatter on top of him.
}: Maybe I should, too. :{ The brown answered simply. It took a second of anxious, repetitive prompting for the image of Indith to flash across his vision and for panic to set in.
**Not like that, you-**
O'rosin rocked back onto his heels and moved to pull himself up from where he knelt. "I have to leave." He said quickly, "Aeoluth picks the _best_ times to chase."
R’fayne tried to steady his breath, his dark hair damp with sweat and his dark eyes struggling to take in the storeroom now that O’rosin was no longer pressed against him. Aeoluth was chasing. Right now? He chuckled disbelievingly at the timing, and it took another moment for him to realize that the growing, flowing sense of _need_ gathering beneath his skin wasn’t just his.
**And what, exactly, are you doing?**
Skadith had been chasing more than he had expected his quiet, self-contained dragon to truly be interested in - but he hadn’t quite managed to make a catch yet, and that was less an aggravating fact and more singular motivation for him as his attention zeroed in on Indith, rapt, ready. Lust multiplied with each breath and R’fayne had his answer.
“I don’t sharding believe this. Skadith’s chasing, too.” The bluerider’s voice was a low, rough laugh, pulling the brownrider back long enough to kiss him one last time. He smoothed his hair somewhat back into place and zipped his pants. “Come on, ‘rosin.”
… Right. Get to the flightroom. Just like he'd practiced. He could do this. He had to do this.
V’tian bolted. He could feel Indith's warmth rising. He didn't have much time, and he definitely wasn't going to get caught out in the open.
He skidded into the flightroom. “Here, I'm here!” He blurted.
}:Finally!!:{ Indith exulted, and threw herself skyward, catching the wind and _soaring_. }:Catch me if you can!!:{
Within half a heartbeat of her rising, Hambreth launched himself after her, eyes whirring rapidly as wings beat strongly downwards to gain altitude. He was full, strong, _ready_. Bugling loudly, he broadcast his intention to win this chase.
Calaroth was after her with a rush of bright azure wings. }:Oh lovely Indith, I will make your first flight very good.:{ He did his best to stay close. Young greens often made mistakes and he needed to be ready to grab her before another male could.
}:_I_ will win!:{ Kularth insisted as he barreled past a slower brown.
Determined to prove the old blue dead wrong, Skadith snaked around the edges of the pack. His growing bulk hampered the same turns and twists he carved with fluid ease just a few months prior by a good few degrees, but he used it now to block, to bash against another blue with a ferocity that wasn’t entirely his own.
Raveth, usually a wily chaser, was caught off guard by the force of the blow and tumbled from the pack. On the ground J’vek loudly cursed his rotten luck.
R’fayne caught sight of V’tian in the flightroom at the same moment Skadith spied Indith ahead, a flash of green out in the open, and he surged after her with a growl rising fast in their throats.
Yalith jostled for position in the middle of the pack. His bright blue hide contrasted sharply against some of the darker browns.
To O'rosin's growing horror, Aeoluth snapped at Kularth as he sped past. It didn't matter how far away the past was, he still had nightmares of failing out of weyrling training. Aeoluth had only just started to chase off and on, and he still wasn't used to the feeling of it. Like everything else, all he could do was hold on while Aeoluth tore through the air after Indith.
}:You are all very handsome males!:{ Indith called, wings beating faster. She wasn't done!! Not yet! Not while she still arced through the sky.
… Even if she was getting tired already from how _fast_ she was going.
V'tian's breath caught, his mind fully with Indith's.
Calaroth was close behind, eager to claim her. }:Choose me! See how fast I am? We will leave all these others behind and I will fly you so well.:{ He crooned to the object of his desire.
Kularth growled at Aeoluth as the brown dared to snap at him, but he couldn’t afford to be distracted. These other males were merely in the way. The blue’s damaged wingjoint began to burn but he pressed on after the glowing female. }:Indith, I will fly you. I will show you pleasure.:{
Yalith had Turns of experience catching greens, and so the blue veered away from the pack and cut through the skies to the exact point where he predicted Indith would begin to descend once she reached the pinnacle of her climb. }:I will catch you!:{
Hambreth strained to free himself of the rest of the hopeful males, trying to work his way to the outer edge to keep his great wings from getting fouled by his competitors. When he finally had space, he used the burst of energy he had been saving for this critical moment, his wings beating mightily as neck and forearms stretched towards Indith and he sent her words of admiration and devotion. In the flightroom, K'roan mirrored his dragon's movements, reaching hands towards V'tian.
Aeoluth tore through the air, surging after Indith with a strength that surprised even himself. He wasn’t the fastest, not like Calaroth, nor the most experienced like Yalith, but he was intent on powering through on brute force instead, if that's what it took. He hadn’t chased many greens, and he’d never caught one, but he enjoyed the chase all the same.
He dodged Skadith’s path with a startled growl and twisted higher into the air. One wing dipped too sharply, a wobble in the wind he couldn’t quite correct fast enough, and he lost a few lengths of distance. He beat his wings harder.
Skadith had her in his sights. He'd observed enough of her flying - both in and outside of this chase - to have an inkling of where she would be, and just where he _needed_ to be, but a sudden encroachment on the part of Aeoluth had him slicing sideways to avoid a collision. He snarled at the brown, at the sight of Indith as she dodged another chaser just ahead, just where he was aiming, and put on a burst of speed to catch up.
Indith bugled proudly, arching her neck at how _many_ fine chasers she'd attracted, flipping around briefly in midair to regard the pack.
}:I like all of you, but only one will win me!!!:{ She declared, and reversed course, intending to barrel right through them.
And then Kularth was _right there_, and her wings stalled a moment too late.
}:Yes, Indith.:{ Kularth twined his neck and tail with the young green. }:Now I will teach you the pleasure of mating.:{
On the ground, R’lor seized V’tian and pulled him into a passionate kiss, dragonlust wiping away everything but his need.
