Send Him Greetings

Location: Vintner Hall
Date: month 3, day 1 of Turn 4

"Lady Jielta!" Barthella called as she walked briskly towards the woman in the courtyard. "Could I have a moment?"

Jielta turned to the other woman with a smile. "Of course," she agreed.

When she caught up to her she began, "We seem to be in a shortage of a few spices at the Tavern. The Tavern Master and I were hoping we could restock from the Hall stores until a new order could be delivered?" "No problem at all," Jielta said, jingling the keys in the pocket of her skirt. "You'll have to sign off on whatever I give you, just for procedure of course, but that's simple enough, right?" "Thank you, we really appreciate it." Barthella said. Bheverhan hadn't said to keep the theft a secret, but she wasn't sure if he wanted it known either. "We're taking steps to ensure we won't have a shortage again."

"Its really no problem," the young woman assured her, as she led the way to the store rooms. "Since the Tavern is just getting up and running I understand that it is probably difficult to judge how much you need of everything."

Barthella gave a weak grin, "Yes, we're still figuring things out, aren't we." then added to change the subject, "I haven't seen you at the tavern much though, you really should come over and try my bubbly pies."

"I've been busy and haven't had much of a chance to stop by" she replied, a bit self-conscious. "I'll try to get in as soon as possible though!"

"I heard there was a woodsmith asking about you the other day..." Barthella mentioned coyly. If her second cousin was being courted, she wanted to know about it.

"Really?" Jielta asked excitedly. "Who?"

Barthella grinned, "Maybe you should come by the Tavern sometime and find out!"

That made Jielta suspicious. "Is there really a smith asking about me?
Or are you just trying to get me to come down to visit?"

"No, there is." the cook defended, "Let's see, he has blondish brown hair, tall, rather cute - but a bit young for me..."

"Salenti?"Jielta asked, as realization dawned on her.

Barthella smiled, "That's the one! Such a nice fellow too, he overheard me complaining about a wobbly shelf to one of the girls, and he came over first thing in the morning and fixed it."

Despite knowing that her father would never allow her to marry a Journeyman (and that was, after all her ultimate goal in life) she was excited to hear that he had asked about her. "If you see Salenti again will you send him greetings from me?"

"Of course," she replied with a wink, "What else are cousins for!"
