With a soft sigh, Larken snuggled further into M'tone, one arm almost
shyly curling around his waist. Nuzzling his neck, she kissed him there,
tasting the perspiration on his skin. Making love to him hadn't been her
reason for coming here this afternoon, but it had been so hard to find a
reason to stop when their touches had become more insistent, when their
kisses had become deeper, when he'd picked her up in his arms and had
taken her to his bed, settling her carefully in his nest of furs before
stripping and joining her...
His fingers traced lazy patterns along the skin of her arm. "I wish we
could ride the whole storm out together like this," he murmured, burying
his nose in her hair.
"Me too," she murmured back, shifting so she could rest her head more
comfortably on his shoulder. "I bet a lot of couples are...flying..."
"Actually the Weyrleaders have put a ban on flying today," he chuckled,
tipping her chin up to look at him. "You and I are the only two people
'flying'." And when she looked up at him like that he was pretty sure
they were the only two people in the world...
Grinning, she pushed herself closer to kiss him. "We fly well together,"
she told him, her expression quietly impish as she began to trail soft
kisses down his neck to his chest. Larken knew she had to leave
soon....it was getting late, after all. Ojisan would probably be coming
home in a while. But she didn't want to leave M'tone, the man who was
there when she'd needed company...reassurance. Sighing, she closed her
eyes, scraping her teeth gently over his skin, trying not to feel any
regret. It would only dampen their enjoyment.
"I'd say 'well' is an understatement there," he smiled, smoothing the hair
back from her face so he could look at her more clearly. "Perhaps
'sharding well' is getting a little closer."
Blushing, she glanced up at him. "Not 'scorching well'?" She bit her
lip lightly against an embarrassed grin as one of his brows rose. "Is it
still too soon for that?"
His finger teasingly traced her lower lip. "If I say 'yes', would you try
to prove me wrong?" he asked with a smoldering smile.
Larken ducked her head, flushing a dull red.
He curled a finger around her chin and lifted her eyes back to his. "I
think we make love to each other scorching well, Larken."
Shards, what she would give right now to be able to stay here with him....
Leaning down, she nuzzled him, lips gently caressing over his. She
wanted to do so much more, wanted to run her hands over his flesh, wanted
to bury her fingers in the thick wealth of his blonde hair and kiss him
until they were both breathless, wanted to slide over his body and make
love to him again... It took a real effort to pull herself away from him.
Looking down into his hazel eyes, she gave him a soft smile.
M'tone watched her pull away. "Where are you going?" he asked softly.
Regret flashed in her eyes. "It's late, M'tone. I wish I didn't have to
go, but it's been a few candlemarks. And Ojisan...he'll worry."
He reached for her hand. "Don't go yet. You said yourself, he's busy.
Just a little while longer."
Carefully she laced her fingers with his. "But what if he's not busy
anymore?" Looking down, she rubbed her cheek along the back of his palm.
"I don't want him to get suspicious," she whispered. "About anything."
"Alright," he sighed resignedly. She was right of course. "But if you
can slip away again later..."
"You know I'll come if I can."

The corridors were just as crowded as they were three candlemarks ago when
Larken had made her way to M'tone's weyr. Now as she pushed herself away
from his niche of the Weyr to hers, hurrying along, her eyes scanned the
faces of people rushing past her, not really recognizing any of them--save
one.
"Larken!" Almonteo cried in relief, rushing up to the young woman. "Thank
Faranth! We have been looking for you everywhere! It was all I could do
to keep Ojisan from looking for you in the Lower Caverns. Where have you
been, girl?"
Her mind worked furiously to come up with a vague answer that wouldn't be
questioned. "I was back there," she flung her arm out to gesture to the
other end of the Weyr. "Helping. They needed so many more hands,
Hallmaster, and I was just in the way down below." It was amazing how
easily the lie slipped from her lips.
"But you're all right?" the Hallmaster asked, putting an arm around her
shoulder. "Really, your husband is in quite a state."
True regret tore into her--and guilt. "I'm quite all right. But I'm very
sorry for making Ojisan worry so! I'll go to him now, Hallmaster."
"No no," he said gently, steering her in the direction of her rooms. "You
go back to your rooms. Ojisan is turning the Hall upside down looking for
you. It's better that you stay in one place and we'll find him."
Flushing, she nodded. "Thank you, sir." She wanted to ask him for news
about how things were going, but taking one look at his face, she knew
that now was certainly not the time! And perhaps Ojisan would tell her
later...if he wasn't too angry.
