Characters: S'yei
Description: S'yei arrives at River Bluff Weyr where, according to Yalith, the best looking greens on Pern live
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 3, day 4 of Turn 6

It wasn't fancy, but it had its perks. S'yei looked around the weyr that had
been assigned to him at River Bluff Weyr. He hadn't expected grandeur by any
means, but managing to get into one of the older weyrs with lighting and a
small bathing chamber made S'yei feel fortunate. The bluerider glanced
around the weyr, the only sound the soft humming of the lights on overhead.

}:Are you done gawking? Aren't all weyrs the same?:{ Yalith protested as he
shifted from one large foot to the other, S'yei's things still strapped to
his flanks.

S'yei's lips quirked upwards as he retraced his steps out to the ledge where
Yalith waited not-so-patiently. As S'yei began cutting the ropes that held
his things in place, he glanced around at the other dragons coming in and
out of the Weyr. The view here was nice, that he could say honestly. There
was something about River Bluff that felt... welcoming, even though he'd
only met a handful of people since his arrival.

As soon as Yalith was free of luggage the blue shuffled into his weyrcouch
and exclaimed, }:Ooooohhh! The craftsmanship is... is...:{ The dragon
searched for a word that S'yei would use when tasting wine, but with his
short-term memory he couldn't grasp the right word.

"Stellar." S'yei supplied, unable to stop the smile this time that came to
his face.

}:_Exactly.:{ Yalith practically purred as he made himself comfortable in
the stone couch.

**Aren't all weyrcouches the same?** S'yei said in a teasing voice that
mimicked Yalith's complaint from earlier.

}:Absolutely not, my rider.:{ Yalith said with a smugly satisfied voice.

Shaking his head, S'yei grabbed up his sacks and toted them inside. The
first things that came in were the precious wines and other vintages that
S'yei had collected over the Turns. Being of the vintnercraft himself, S'yei
had a deep appreciation for wines and alcohols of all varieties.

Looking around, S'yei spotted some roughly hewn wooden shelves and within
minutes he had them decorated with the colorful bottles of his prized wine
collection. Spinning around, S'yei began unpacking the "less important
things" such as clothes, a spare pair of boots, his leather working tools
for repairing his straps, and so on.

}:Mhm, yes,:{ Yalith had slithered back out to the ledge, his blue body
stretched across the stone lip as he gazed around the Weyr with his whirling
eyes, }: the green dragons here certainly are fine.:{

**Oh are they?** S'yei's eyebrow quirked as he began putting away some of
his odds and ends.

}:Indeed. I'd daresay they've the best selection of female dragons I've ever
seen.:{ Yalith said appreciatively, but considering his short-term memory
S'yei didn't think he should count his dragon the sole authority on the
attractiveness, or lack thereof, of green dragons.

S'yei didn't respond to his dragon this time, but merely shook his head as
he began piling his own sheets and bedding onto the mattress of his bed.
He'd only just gotten the first sheet on, however, when Yalith interrupted
once more, }:I would compliment the greens' riders as well but,
unfortunately, I'm not really sure what qualifies as 'attractive' in a
human.:{

The unexpected comment from his blue had S'yei barking in laughter, "You
just let me deal with the riders, hm?" He said as he finished making his bed
and then went out to stand near his dragon on the ledge.

Dragon and rider stayed there together in companionable silence, Yalith
familiarizing himself with other dragons in the Weyr through their mental
communication, and S'yei gazing up at the sky, his thoughts circling the
life he'd left at Dragonsfall.

}:Do you think you'll be happy here?:{ Yalith asked as he finished up
another conversation with a fellow blue dragon and returned his attention to
his rider.

S'yei gave his dragon's hide a loving thump, "I do."

For S'yei, River Bluff was a chance at a new life. He supposed that was
cliche and he figured he wasn't the first dragonrider to leave a Weyr
because of bad memories. Besides, S'yei had learned a lot about love and
loss at Dragonsfall, lesson that he was sure would serve him as he moved
forward towards a new future.
