K'mai

K'mai

Dragon washing was a good opportunity to chat, at least K'mai thought
so. He waded in close to another bluerider, a new transfer in the
Weyrleader's wing. "Hello there."

S'yei looked up at the voice that, he presumed, was directed at
him. When he saw that it was K'mai, S'yei smiled. He'd noticed the man
before, mostly because the bluerider was easy to look at with his
lengthy blonde hair and tanned skin. K'mai was the sort of guy who
attracted attention.

"Well met- "

}:K'mai.:{ Yalith supplied.

"K'mai," S'yei interjected smoothly.

"Well met. S'yei, isn't it?" He hoped he had that right. He'd heard it
while discussing new riders with his friends, but this bluerider
wasn't the only recent transfer.

S'yei nodded, "That's right," he dunked the brush he was using to
scrub Yalith with into the water to rinse it off, "I trust that Sebeth
is well?"

"Yes." K'mai patted the blue's hide while he silently asked him to
supply the name of S'yei's dragon. "And Yalith is well too?"

"He is well," S'yei responded with a fond smile for his lifemate,
"he's particularly enjoyed moving to a warmer climate as it gives him
more opportunity to sun with greens." He admitted to which he felt
Yalith's amusement through their mental link.

K'mai chuckled. "Always a benefit. So where did you transfer from?"

"Dragonsfall," S'yei answered with a friendly grin as he set to
scrubbing on a particularly dusty patch of hide, "so as you can
imagine the switch to the heat of River Bluff was quite a shock for
me."

"A good shock?" K'mai asked as he grabbed a handful of sweetsand.

"Very good, actually." S'yei cupped his hand in the water and rubbed
it through his hair in an effort to cool down a bit, "Not that it
doesn't seem ridiculously hot on occasion, but, still, I'm liking it."
The way the bluerider saw it, the hotter it was, the less people wore,
and the less people wore, the more eye candy he had. It was pretty
sound logic to S'yei.

"How long have you been here?" S'yei asked.

Sebeth leaned into the brush as K'mai started washing him. "All my
life. I was lucky enough to be born here and never had the urge to
leave."

Well that was something, S'yei supposed. He knew that not everyone had
the urge to travel, and if they loved where they were why should they?
The best part about Weyrs was that there was so much diversity of life
and people that one rarely needed to venture outside of it to find
something new and different, "I'm guessing you know a lot of the faces
around the Weyr then."

"And most of the names too," K'mai said with a chuckle.

S'yei grinned at that, "That makes you invaluable then. The next time
I have to go meet someone I'm taking you with me. You can be my
guide." The bluerider gave Yalith's flank 'whack' with his brush and
then stood back as the dragon rinsed and then changed directions so
that S'yei could begin scrubbing his tail.

"The next time I throw a party, I'll make sure to invite you. You'll
meet plenty of people then."

"Good deal," S'yei replied as he finished with Yalith's tail and then
stepped back so that the blue could rinse off completely. Wading back
to shore, S'yei tossed his brush into the bucket that he'd carried
down with him that was laden with other supplies as well, "Well,
K'mai, it was nice talking to you. I'd better go get myself cleaned up
now. Hopefully I'll see you around soon."

"I'll make sure you do." K'mai grinned. "Have a good day."
