Nosying Around

Writers: Chelle, Heather K
Date Posted: 6th February 2012

Characters: P'nal, Delria
Description: P'nal meets Camieth and Delria.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 6, day 15 of Turn 6

Going through his daily workout, P'nal continued to punch the sand filled
bag that was suspended from the stone ceiling. The brownrider made a few
grunting noises as he went around, hitting and punching. He was sweaty and
tunic-less. Finished with the bag, he stepped back and grabbed a towel to
wipe his face then began to chug some water.

**I don't know why things are the colors they are. Queens are gold, klah is
brown and..._hello._** Delria trailed off while explaining yet another fact
of life to her ever inquisitive green. They were on their way back from an
errand when they happened to pass by the training yard and Delria's green
eyes spotted a rather chiseled form. He wasn't the hottest piece of man in
the Weyr but she didn't care. Her experience with weyrlinghood thus far had
shown her that most people treated you like a child again and that meant far less male attention.

}: Hello. Hi...you were saying?:{ Camieth bounded in front of her rider
trying to regain her attention. Then she spotted the work out equipment and
took off to investigate. }: What's this do?:{

"Cami! No!" Delria rushed after her lifemate, her face already flushing as
she knew there was no way of saving herself from embarrassment this time.

Seeing a young dragon heading his way, P'nal looked up with mild curiosity.
The brownrider chuckled as he continued to drink his water. Watching her
from the corner of his eye, he saw the weyrling coming behind her. Of course he didn't know the girl. "Good day," he offered.

"Hi," Delria replied breathlessly. She put a hand in front of her green
before the dragonet could get ahead of her and start scaling the equipment. "Good day to you as well. Sorry about the charge you almost suffered. She probably would've tried to use you as footing."

"I don't think she'd have gotten that far." He chuckled, looking her over
absentmindedly to make sure she was getting good care. "They're very curious at this stage. You'll have to learn to be faster."

Rolling her eyes Delria answered, "Oh don't I try. It seems that for every
step I take she's able to take three. The more she grows, the worse it gets. I hope I'm able to teach her some manners soon. For now though, her curiosity seems to always get the best of her." Beaming down at her lifemate for a moment Delria couldn't help but feel an immense sense of love and pride. She wouldn't change who the little green was for the world.

}: Nor I you.:{ Camieth offered in return before she began batting around a
shiny pebble.

Realizing again that she was in public, Delria corrected herself. Offering
her hand with one of her friendliest smiles she introduced herself. "I'm
Delria and the wanderer is Camieth."

He would have taken her hand had his not been taped up for boxing. He showed her and smiled to let her know. "I'm P'nal of brown Jodeth, the Weyrleader's wingsecond. Pleased to meet you both." He continued to watch Camieth, trying to remember his own dragonet at that point. "With greens, they say practice makes perfect."

Her face flushed as she withdrew her hand. She kicked herself mentally for
not being more observant. When the man stated his rank, she could've died.
Here she was making a fool out of herself while meeting one of the top riders in the Weyr. **Better pull your act together missy.**

}: Why do that? There's nothing wrong with you. Who is he anyways? He looks
like any other man I've met.:{ Camieth said as she sniffed around P'nal
trying to discern what made this person any different from say one of her rider's male classmates or the Weyrlingmaster even.

**I'll explain later. Watch where you stick your nose.** She cautioned but
not before her green went nudging her muzzle into some particularly sensitive nooks and crannies.

"Hey hey," he moved quickly, putting a hand on Camieth's head to scratch her ridges in hopes that might forestall things. Greens could be intransigent at the best of times. Young dragons tended not to listen as well as older ones.

Camieth pushed lightly into the man's hand. His attempt at distracting her
from exploring any further proved to be working, much to her lifemate's relief.

"I am so, so sorry, sir," she apologized. "She really does not understand
boundaries yet. I'll work on that as well." This encounter was really not going as she had hoped. Not only was he a rider of rank, which meant that he viewed her as a child not a grown woman, but now Camieth had been...well, nothing more than a young dragon. If Delria could get past the horror of the situation she would have laughed.

"It's okay. It's not the first time." He bent down to come face to face with Camieth. His eyes saw the green's whirling ones and he couldn't help but wonder what she was thinking. "Soon enough she'll be bigger. She'll eat more. Thank Faranth she'll never get as big as Jodeth, though."

Delria let out a breath which helped her calm her mind. "I am exceedingly
thankful for that. She's not tiny, but she's still no bronze. I do not
envy my male classmates."

Backing up from Camieth to allow her space for the moment, the brownrider
wiped his face with a towel and turned his head to Delria. Picking up his
waterskin, he took a sip. "So, how are you liking weyrlinghood so far?"

"Well, it's pretty much what they told us it would be. We've been doing
marching drills but mostly it's been caring for Camieth and the rest. I
don't mind it really. She keeps me pretty entertained as you can imagine,"
she smiled as she said it. She kept her personal feelings about her new
status to herself. No need to trouble a random stranger with her grievances.

"J'darin is a good friend of mine so I know you're in good hands." He
finished off his water and hung the skin over his shoulder. "I've got to be going now if I'm going to get a bath before evening meal. It was nice to meet you, Delria." He nodded to Camieth as well, sparing the green a smile.

"And you as well, P'nal...sir." She added the title a little awkwardly still a little unsure of herself. Taking a deep breath Delria collected her thoughts and her green and the two headed for the barracks.
