The good thing about mating flights, E'naer reflected and leaned his
chin against the feeding pen's pole, was that you knew exactly what
was going on and what was your part in it was. No teen mood swings, no
angsty...just pure lust without any emotional complications.

Eillispeth blooded her kill, occasionally lifting her head to see who
she had attracted. There was old familiar, Galerith, his dark blue hide
glistering with recent oiling. And Nirreth, the leading bronze. It was
always nice to know her charm worked on him too. She fanned her wings
and craned neck gracefully.

}: You're lovely, ;{ Galerith crooned.

}: Of course I am,:{ she was full of confidence.

Jodeth was no fool. The brown had been biding his time and now he was
going to try again. stretching his wing muscles, he headed down to
join the group watching, a determined look already in his eyes.

Branth raised his head when he saw Galerith and Jodeth move towards
the Feeding Pens, and he felt the mood shift as he watched the
beautiful Eillispeth feed. The green was gorgeous, perfect in every
way, in Branth's estimation. Pushing up and giving himself a shake,
the brown spread his wings and flew down to join the line up of males.

Imalkyth descended in a spiral to wait impatiently. His pecan brown
hide glowed with youth and health.K'ale found himself going to the
flight rooms for another flight. His lifemate was more determined than
ever to win. He could feel the lust rising even as he realized it was
Eillispeth.

**Get up! Get up!** N'ki frantically tugged on Veriath's headknobs.

}:Wha...?:{ The large blue blinked his eyes open, just in time to hear
the commotion outside.

**Come_on_! It's Ellispeth and I want this one bad!** N'ki went to
the lip of their weyr and looked down at the glowing green with
passion--and fear--in his eyes. Of all the Flights to win, this was
the one he had wanted for turns. Still half asleep--but too sensible
to argue--Verianth flew them down and took his place alongside the
other rutting males. She was pretty, after all.

Eillispeth discarded her prey and with a defiant trumpet, took to the air.
She was not going to wait around for dawdlers.

Galerith didn't waste time, just crouched and launched after her.

The blue might be faster, but the brown was bigger. His eyes whirling
the quick purple hue of mating lust, Jodeth had fixated on his
target-Ellispeth.
She was a well made green. She, like him, was no young thing, but she
wasn't very old either. She knew enough to make it interesting. The brown
ignored Galerith and the others. Soaring after her, he used his wing power
to gain more momentum on the downbeat.

Imalkyth leaped after her as well. This time he was not going to find
himself boxed into the middle of the pack where he had no chance.
Brown wings beat hard and he crooned to the glowing green. }:You shine
beautiful Eillispeth:{

Nirreth used his brute strength to get to the front row of the chasing
male-group.
He called his admiration.

Eillispeth was a seasoned green and didn't make it easy for them. She weaved
in and out, using the clouds to hide in and confuse the males. The
snowfall helped her too.

Whenever they went through the clouds, the cold water droplets clung
to the brown's hide. It was cold and the droplets made it colder. And then
there was the snow.
It made things hard to see and Jodeth was flying by experience now, not
actual
sight, for the most part. He knew these skies like the back of his hand.
She was
somewhere ahead. His nostrils flared as they caught her scent,
following it like a true hunter.

Just as Eillispeth was a seasoned green, Branth was nearly the same
age, and his experience would lend him precedence over some of the
other males. The brown dragon's wings broke through the clouds,
leaving them in a swirl behind him as he fought to keep the green in
his line of sight, which wasn't hard since her beautiful green hide
shown through the white clouds.

His lifemate urging him on, Verianth found the strength to not only
just keep up but to get himself close to the front of the pack. She
was a lovely green, after all, and it had been ages since he had won a
flight. He watched the way the snow danced on her glowing hide,
making the green shine out like a light.

Galerith was flying almost shoulder to shoulder with two other males.
He was boxed in and knew.

Brown wings beat after the quick green as she flashed in and out of
the clouds. Her hide glowing like a beacon in the snowgray sky. This
time he was above her. Imalkyth knew a fortunate change in direction
and she would be his.

Eillispeth led them dancing through the clouds until her wings started ache.
She allowed Nirreth come close but darted away on last second, leaving
the bronze trumpet his disappointed and frustration. No bronze or
brown today. She wanted fast and agile blue. She invited Verianth
closer. The time had come.

Imalkyth banked away into the clouds to go find something to kill. He
was becoming frustrated at his inability to catch. He dropped on an
unsuspecting wherry and took out his frustration in feeding. K'ale
blindly pushed his way out of the room ignoring the hands that brushed
him.

W'ser released a sigh, one of relief and of frustration as he ducked
out from among the waiting riders. In the sky Branth swerved down for
a crash landing in the Weyrlake, sending up a spray of water.

When she chose the other dragon, Jodeth felt his wings fold. He didn't
want to fly any longer. The brown glided back down to Pern, thinking
about just sleeping it off.

When Eillispeth called out, Verainth nearly fell out of the sky in
surprise. He hardly ever flew, let alone won, many Flights. On the
ground, N'ki didn't hesitate, taking the object of his daydreams in
his arms and kissing him deeply before roughly pushing him onto the
floor. The bed was simply too far away. All too quickly he was
locked in the same embrace that was occurring in the snowy sky.

E'naer was bit taken back by his vehemont passion but soon succumbed to the
rapture that only Mating Flight could bring. If you talked about
uncomplicated lust, N'ki was just the man, and perhaps, Eillie had sensed
it was just the thing her rider needed.
