Characters: Blayre, S'yei
Description: Blayre and S'yei awake to new beginnings
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 8, day 3 of Turn 6

Much to his pleasant surprise, Blayre awoke with only a small headache
and a wicked thirst. Peeking out from under his arm he noticed that
the light coming through his window was that
of daybreak. Sitting up he looked to the bluerider who lay at his
side. Was he awake?

S'yei was awake, he had been for a while. Whenever he wasn't sleeping
in his bed the bluerider found it hard to sleep for very long. He
would have left, already, but feared that it would be rude, or that
Blayre would take the wrong meaning. Instead, he'd dutifully laid
beside of the sleeping vintner, his arms crossed behind his head as he
watched the sunlight slowly creeping into the weyr.

"Well good morning to you," Blayre said with a pleasant smile. He stayed
sitting up still not entirely confident with the new situation. "You been
awake long?"

Well, S'yei figured, at least Blayre was smiling. Since the vintner
was only beginning to explore his feelings for a man, for the first
time, the bluerider was still holding his breath, figuratively,
waiting for the moment when Blayre realized this wasn't what he
wanted.

"For a bit," S'yei conceded with a smile to match Blayre's, "I have
trouble sleeping away from Yalith."

"Ah, sorry about that. My humble home is one of few places at the
Weyrthat _isn't_ dragon sized. Hope he didn't mind too much." Blayre
fumbled for words to go to next. It was odd that after one night of
closeness he felt out of place. He couldn't help but think that if
S'yei were a woman that they'd already be engaging in round two.
The truth of the matter was that there hadn't even been a round one.
Normally, he would act like these feelings never emerged and go find
himself a willing female partner, but this time was different. Awkwardly,
he stroked S'yei's arm with light fingerbrushes.

Turning over to face Blayre, S'yei captured the man's fingers,
bringing them to his lips for a gentle kiss, "Yalith is fine. Thank
you for letting me stay." With the vintner's inexperience with men the
bluerider was honored to be allowed even the liberty of sharing
Blayre's bed-- even if it was just for sleeping!

Blayre watched S'yei play with his fingers, a nervous smiling gracing
his face. "Yeah, uh, no problem." He wished he could pull it together
but his confidence seemed to have left him.

The awkward response made S'yei smile, "Should I go?" He didn't want
to over stay his welcome, or cause Blayre to be uncomfortable. S'yei
had never tread in waters like these before and he found himself over
his head.

"No you can stay if you've got the time. I just think we should get
up. Get breakfast or at least some klah. I don't know about you but
I'm parched." Slinging his legs over the bed, Blayre put his head in
his hands and ruffled the sleep out of his thick dark hair.

S'yei sat up in the bed, similarly running a hand through his hair as
he reached for his tunic and pulled in on, "Klah sounds perfect.
Hopefully I didn't do something embarrassing last night.. like snore in
front of you." He grinned as he left the bed. Stamping into his boots
he laced them quickly, borne of practice.

"You got away with it if you did such a thing. I was dead tired by the
end of the night." In fact the bluerider had done very little to
embarrass himself or Blayre. He had been gentle and patient throughout
their explorations. Blayre had been pleasantly surprised.

Pulling fresh clothes from hits trunk, Blayre dressed quickly in
simple tunic and looser leather pants. "Ready when you are."

Casually S'yei linked fingers with Blayre, loosely holding their hands
together as they made their way towards the Dining Cavern. The act, in
itself, was very innocent and natural for S'yei, but he'd been a
bluerider for many Turns and was very comfortable with his sexuality
in front of others.

"What are your plans for the rest of the day?" He questioned as they walked.

Blayre refrained from just pulling his hand away from S'yei. It wasn't
that he didn't want to be seen with S'yei, it was just the hand
holding signaled to him something more than just friendship. To him,
that's what they still were. Instead he made a point of using his hand
to gesture while he spoke.

"Well, I have to check in on things down in the cellar and then I
think I'm setting up a new brewing apparatus. Could take a few
candlemarks, could take all day."

S'yei stuck his now empty hand in his pocket, "Right, sounds like it
could be fun though." The bluerider had always enjoyed vintner
projects, no matter how tedious. He tried not to think too much about
Blayre breaking their contact.

"Oh, you could call it that," Blayre replied, keeping the conversation
light. He desperately wanted to make sure S'yei was alright with his
fickleness. Onesecond he's fine with the touches and caresses and what
not and the next. It had to be driving the bluerider crazy, at least
that's what Blayre assumed.

Deciding to take charge of the situation Blayre simply asked, "Hey,
are we ok?"

The silent message behind Blayre's question didn't escape S'yei, and
so he smiled at the vinter, "We're perfect."
