E'rae was due to arrive any minute. A few of the guests had already
arrived, and food and drink were set out on one of the side tables.
Someone knocked and K'mai called, "Come in!"

Im're slipped in. "I hope I'm in time," the young bluerider said with
little breathless tone.

"Plenty of time!" K'mai clapped the lad on the back. "Help yourself to
refreshments."

"Good," Im're went to pour himself a wine and added his modest gift to
the table.

"Hiya sweetie." Jaylene sidled up to Im're's side and gave him a hug.
"You're looking really good these days!"

After some other folks headed in, the bluerider gingerly came inside,
looking in at the small crowd. He was a bit curious to see what K'mai
had up his sleeve, but he had survived worse in the past so he was sure
he'd be able to meet fall in a few days when it came. At least, he was
pretty sure.

E'rae was sporting shorts and a cutoff tunic since it was warm and he
didn't care about dressing up for his own party anyway.

"There's the birthday boy!" K'mai grinned. "Let me start you off with
a drink. What's your pleasure?"

"Ah emm..got some good quikal?" he asked curiously, wondering if the
newly refurbished vintner operation had produced anything yet and if
K'mai had gotten his hands on it if so.

K'mai leaned in close. "If you're discreet about it ... yes." He only
had one skin and was happy to share with E'rae, but not everyone else.
Not until he'd sweet-talked his way into more.

"Discreet? Indeed. Just pour a little in the colored glass and no one will
know. I'll tell em it's the old wine." He gave a small wink as he spotted
Jaylene and half wandered over to say hello to her.

"Hello." She smiled at him, just as her younger brother, J'zen,
stepped up beside her.

"Greetings Jays. Everyone enjoying the party? I'm told there's supposed
to be food though I haven't gotten any yet. Can I get the lady anything?"
he pointedly asked, though it was _his_ birthingday.

"Hi, E'rae, happy birthday!" Im're called out.

S'yei had shown up a little later, although not without a bottle of fine wine in each hand, after all, the former vintner couldn't show up at a birthday gathering without some of his special "treats". He knew that the people who would be present at this party would especially appreciate it.

"E'rae!" He clapped a hand on the man's shoulder, and gave a nod and a
wink to Jaylene, "Happy Birthingday to you, and to Jaylene, may I say you
look gorgeous."

K'mai appeared and handed E'rae a glass. "Here you go. If anyone else
wants drinks or food, they're on the table." The door opened and three
people stepped in, carrying instruments. "Ah, the entertainment is
here!" He hurried off to help them set up.

"Why thank you!" Watching the other bluerider head to where this
entertainment was, he shrugged before eyeing the table. "Nice to see
you Im're! You too S'yei. Hope all you have your dancing shoes on.
Apparently the music's going to be going soon."

"I have two left feet," Im're said with embarrassed tone. Dancing
lessons weren't part of his education.

"That's okay, I have two right ones," J'zen teased. "Care to dance?"
He tossed his dark hair and gave Im're his lovely smile.

"Sure, if you promise not to complain when I step on your toes," the
young bluerider replied and drained his glass in one go. He needed bit
encouragement. J'zen's smile made Im're's heart beat faster and his
palms turned sweaty.

J'zen wisely didn't answer that but just led the boy out onto the
circle of dancers.

Jaylene watched them. "Care to join?" she asked to no one male in particular.

Finishing up the glass K'mai had given him, E'rae ignored visiting
the food table in light of that invite. "Aye, let's show 'em how it's
done." The bluerider wasted no time in getting himself into her arms.

The trio of harpers were set up and started the first song, a lively
tune to get everyone dancing. K'mai grabbed a young man who looked
lonely and had him among the dancers before he knew what was
happening. "It's a party, enjoy yourself!"

"You enjoying yourself?" J'zen asked Im're. "Or would you rather
ditch this party and go and have some_real_fun?" His teasing tone
implied what he really meant.

"Yes, I am. We could do that too," Im're replied, getting excited. Now,
who wouldn't, with a gorgeous greenrider like him?
