Lenala

Lenala

Now that the eggs were on the sand, H'vack knew he needed to speak
with the Weyrwoman's Second.

It didn't take him long to find her. "Ah, Lenala, there you are. I
thought we should discuss a few things now that Vilarth has clutched."

"Hello, H'vack, I believe you're right," Lenala replied. "Step into my
my office, which happens to be the Hatching Sands," she continued.
Perhaps it was Tabanirth's presence, but Vilarth seemed more nervous
and protective over her eggs than usual. Perhaps she picked up
Lenala's nervousness.

"Of course," he replied, following Lenala as they entered the Sands.
He made sure to give Vilarth a wide berth as he knew that brooding
Queens were not something to be trifled with.

"So, let's talk about your plans and expectations with regard to the
candidates and the hatching," he started as they took a seat off to
the side.

Lenala nodded. "She doesn't mind visitors, really, but just in small
numbers. So, you need to divide the candidates for groups of ten for
the visits. And pace them so she can rest and forget the last visit
before next one."

"Alright," H'vack replied. "I think we can handle that. Would you say
she needs a day, a few days, or longer between the visits?" He was
already trying to calculate how many candidates there were and how
many days they might need to get all the visits in.

"I think we can manage two groups per day. One in the morning and one
in the afternoon. That should give her time to recover from the visit
and probably forget the last one too," Lenala said after a moment of
thinking and judging Vilarth's reactions.

"Alright," H'vack replied, "I'll get some lists prepared and the
candidates divided into the appropriate number of groups. We can begin
as soon as you and Vilarth are ready." He nodded his head as he spoke.
"How else can I help you both during this time?"

"Just do your job," Lenala said with softening smile. "As long as the
candidates are ready for the Hatching, we are satisfied," she
continued. They didn't need anything special and managing Vilarth's
overprotective maternal instinct was her headache.

"Alright Lenala. I can manage that for sure. You just let me know if
there is anything further that you feel needs done for this Clutch
with the candidates and I will see to it. I'll have a schedule for
egg-touching to you within the day." H'vack gave a nod of his head to
indicate that unless there was anything further, he would take his
leave.

"I will, H'vack. Thank you," Lenala replied with a smile.
