Description: G'len congratulates Sorsha on her and Railen's Impressions and they talk about Lenlee.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 13, day 23 of Turn 4
Sorsha drifted away from her family and headed towards the drink table. The heat of the sands and the excitement of the day had left her a bit dehydrated, so the thought of cool juice sounded wonderful. As she arrived at the table she saw a familiar face and grinned. "Hi G'len."
"Sorsha!" G'len enveloped her in a big hug. He hadn't had a chance to congratulate her in the excitement right after the Hatching, when the little dragonets had their first meal and settled into the weyrling barracks. "Your Roseth is just beautiful."
"Why thank you, and she is isn't she?" She wasn't above gushing about her dragonet, especially to G'len who Searched her out to begin with.
"And then Railen Impressing a bronze. That must have been a surprise." Especially because Tobereth had Searched his sister, who had not Impressed, and not him.
Sorsha grinned, "I _know_! He's so happy. It must be in the blood though, I think Lenlee has a good chance if she just gets another chance at it."
"Will she maybe not be staying?" he asked, concerned. After their arrival, and especially after the Impression of both Sorsha and Railen, he had assumed she would stay and Stand again.
"Her father only gave her permission to Stand this once." she explained. She wasn't happy about it, especially now that she knew what sort of joy she could experience if she _did_ end up Impressing. "I mentioned it earlier but nobody wanted to discuss it. I think they're just still in shock about losing Railen."
"She knows she can stay here, whether or not her parents give her permission or not," he pointed out. Logically, he understood why parents did not want their children to go to the Weyr. However it was still frustrating, especially when children were allowed, but only for one Hatching. Most candidates had to wait for months, or years, before their lifemate hatched. "She has a good chance of Impressing if she does stay."
Sorsha nodded, "Railen and I plan on visiting once we're able to go /between/, maybe we can talk about it more to them then. Serend and Karai aren't bad people, they're just protective is all."
"Good. And, I'll try to find her tonight to see how she is." It must be hard for her, having both her brother and Sorsha Impress while she was left standing.
"I think she's doing okay," Sorsha said hesitantly, "She has lots of friends here that have been with her tonight. I've actually had hardly a word with her she's been pulled so many directions."
"That's probably a good thing." G'len poured himself a glass of juice. "Well, I'll leave you to your family. You'll be seeing plenty of me over the next few months." He smiled.
Sorsha grinned and waved as she walked away. She couldn't think of anyone she'd rather have as an instructor other than G'len.
